We are having a short-notice charity fund raiser on Saturday 4th (that's this Saturday). from 4pm till midnight.

Alexi is 13 and has bone cancer in his arm. He has to go to the UK for very high tech operations, involving the removal of a bone from his leg to replace the affected one in his arm. His mother is to go with him, obviously, but she will need to find somewhere to stay and keep herself - and she has never left Cyprus before and doesn't speak English, poor soul. His treatment will be paid for by the Cypriot government but living expenses etc won't be covered. There isn't time to register a charity for him as it's so urgent, so it's really a fund raiser.

The organisers hope to raise about 5000 euros. J hope we can all help - raffle prizes would also be gratefully received, I'm told.

Just bumping this up the queue as it's today! Starts at 4 - bouncy castle, water walkers, raffles, cakes for sale, lots of music 'n stuff. Should be a good one.
