Oh well, Alan - you missed a damn good night last night at the Millenium Bar, Coral Bay, just opposite the Chippie...

I thought I nailed Stuck in the Middle (Clowns were definitely to the left though, not the Jokingers) but I ruined You Got A Friend.

Its risk free fun Alan and no one gives a monkeys. Try it...

Well Ali I must say I am disappointed that Alan has'nt let us know what his beef is, I reckon he must live in Lower Peyia and does'nt want to fraternise with the people from Upper Peyia, what do you think :?:

Haha Yep Jo, it must be an upper peyia thing. Although I dont like saying I am from upper peyia - I always think I sound like I am stuttering - in fact I do end up stuttering.

So you are in Higher Peyia Jo - come over for a drink...

Hi guys, well unfortunately The Millenium has decided that it no longer wants karaoke, so since Tuesday we have finished there, another residency is in the pipeline so will let you know when and where as soon as I have confirmation.

Well I went, it was very different. I sang one song, totally messed it up and we left around 10.30pm.

No interaction, no help, no nothing really.... It may as well have been a jukebox.

Jo Its not as good without you....

Yes a Karaoke duo, they used to perform down the road in Coral Bay apparently, according to someone else in the bar. Mike I think it was and some lady. But it wasnt the same fun, no interaction or help. They had their followers down the front, a group who sang a lot of songs so I suppose it felt busy if you didnt know the personalities.

I really didnt feel as comfy singing and wont again (unless its with Jo). You can mess up and it doesnt matter if its Jo...

It has all become very clear to us, let's just say there is nothing wrong with this particular product, we now have a greater understanding of what has gone on, and it would be unprofessional for me to make further comment, but thank you for your support guys, and I missed you too, we will see how the new residency progresses, I will keep you posted xx

Hi there, Eric and I were in the Millenium last night. Its not good Joe lost her night there and new replacements have been brought in it happened to a friend of mine. This seems be the way things happen here bar / hotel owners seem to do this. In saying that we felt the karaoke was excellent and the bar filled up I would say easily three quarter full. In my book top entertainment............Richard 8-)

Excellent, glad you liked them so much Curly.

I guess you must be a regular at the Millenium and you might therefore know how Jo King has kept that bar going over the quiet winter with regulars who went purely because she was there. Jo is fun and helps novice singers to have the courage to have a go. Isn't that what its all about?

The new couple are great for their own group of followers, who evidently fill the list of singers. I suppose once other people get used to them and realise that you don't have to be a perfect crooner, they may get other people taking that risk. The holiday makers won't know any different but those loyal customers will miss Jo King and her cheerful, friendly character, I can assure you. This new couple look so bored half the time, especially the lady. Maybe that will change though....

Hi read the comments, I think its a bit unfair. We called in the Millenium last night, from what I could see it was nearly all holiday makers doing the singing, some very good singers, some not so good but all seemed to be having a good time thats thing with Karaoke, people enjoy a good singer and also someone having fun, who cant sing a note :) . The bar was totally full again, hen parties etc all having a good time. It came to my attention last night that, that it was indeed the Millenium that approached the couple Mike and Kate to see if they would work for them, not the other way round. No disrespect to anyone, but it seems the bar owners, wanted a change. I am sure people who enjoy Jo King and her Karaoke will continue to do so, in her new venues. It is a bit unfair cast a shadow on the people now working at the Millenium in an unkind way. My comment is objective, the people in the bar last night, were having one hell of a good evening and comments made here are not objective or factual.....Richard.. 8-)

Richard,

Human nature being what it is, people get used to/attached to/friendly with other people, and that is what has happened with Jo and a lot of people on this forum. I think what Ali took exception to, and myself as well, was curlywurlys' unfair attack on Jo. We all have different ideas on what is good and what is not, and for that I am very thankful or the world would be a very boring place.

Yes, I know Mike and Kate and have sung on their Karaoke, by the same token I know Jo and have sung on hers - I have enjoyed them both, but know which I prefer. Splash bar here I come.

Hi Jean, you are quite correct about the attacking post. And you are being objective same as me, fair just comment from everyone would be helpful. Different people will enjoy both or prefer another we are not all the same. But its unfair of people to make personal comments about people they dont even know. People have feelings, ( I have thick skin :D )... whether comments be of Jo King or Kate and Mike........... Richard :)

sorry
sorry to have offended anyone but i think that jo king was being quite unfair to the millenium bar just because they no longer required her services. they are entitled to change their entertainment if they dont think the present one is up to scratch.obviously they had their reasons for doing so.x oh and i bet jo wasnt keeping the bar going through the winter months gratis???? no one keeps the bars going but the owners and workers in it who work very long hours. again apologies foir offending

This is Jo King's quote below (I dont know how to double quote in a post). I can't see how Jo was being unfair on the Millenium Bar as mentioned in your post above Curleywyurly... I don't know you, you're obviously not a regular poster on this forum so maybe you don't know Jo but I think her words below were very dignified.

What I do detect, however, is that there is a definite agenda by some to put Jo down personally, regardless of any perceived rights and wrongs and I don't agree with it. I have made my comments but I haven't been unkind, just told it how I saw it. Maybe the new people will settle in soon and not look so bored. Also, despite what you say Richard, it was not nearly all holiday makers doing the singing, I know, I was there. But at the end of the day, they are your friends so you will defend them, and rightly so.

I am not certain of what's going on here but I have a damn good idea and yes, the Millenium owners have every right to do what they want and when, its there ball game and they will play it as they see fit.

Warming up for the next one.
Whether its Mike (never me him), Jo or Wan all I ask is for a good night......

Im sure all the professionals involved will find a new venue, just let us know as soon as possible.

Ali say's 'This new couple look so bored half the time' Maybe bored of Ali's whining (throwing visual daggers probably doesn't help either), as for wanting some help singing Ali, did you try asking? I've always found them very helpful. As for Ali saying herself 'I haven't been unkind' I feel the word spiteful more fitting or is it just that Ali likes the wooded spoon? Ali say's 'I really didnt feel as comfy singing and wont again (unless its with Jo)' Well that decision lasted all of one week!!!
ricfci say's 'what I could see it was nearly all holiday makers doing the singing, some very good singers, some not so good but all seemed to be having a good time thats thing with Karaoke' Ali say's 'despite what you say Richard, it was not nearly all holiday makers doing the singing, I know, I was there' And I too was there & ricfci is correct, it was nearly all holiday makers singing but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and having a good time, so it would appear Ali that you're trouble making and if you are so anti everything and everyone that isn't Jo, why keep going to these other karaokes anyway? I am quite aware that different people have different tastes but the bad language used by Jo is not my personal idea of fun & entertainment!

Whatever Sogalog!!

You're as entitled to your opinion as I am and I am not going to enter into a verbal battle with you. I will continue to go to the Millenium as and when I see fit as I like the place and the people.

I believe Jo can now be found at Splash in Bar Street I think  on most evening so anyone can catch up with her there if they wish :greetings

I think we're fortunate with most DJ/Kareoke entertainers in Paphos, I've seen or heard most of them at some point and find them all very good, they work very hard at what they do and to please the punters, but they can't please eveyone all of the time, but they do their best

Hello and welcome to the forum Swallow, (or is it spit and gargle)

Wherever the aforementioned entertainers play I am sure they will attract a good crowd who enjoy themselves.

It would be great however to experience you yourself exercising your vocal chords on one of these occassions. See you soon.

i couldnt agree more sogalog. loyalty getting in the way of reason methinks. anyway i will just say that i dont like the woman and its not just her singing but from personal experience and there aint no loyalty with her. fact. everyone is entitled to their opinion after all is there no such thing as free speech if u r not a JOKING fan

Thankyou for yor informative and enlightening posts on one subject. I for one will look forward to you posting on many subjects here and becoming a vocal member of PP. Unless of course you merely have an axe to grind or particular issue to push.

I suppose you could be right Curlywyurly, this topic could be seen to be pro Jo King, but then again Jo King did start the topic off and she is a supporting sponsor on this website - Quote on another part of this forum (The Paphos People team are very grateful to all our supporting sponsors, who help us to keep this site and forum up and running).

But do reassure Mike and Kate that they have absolutely nothing to worry about. If anyone were to make any comment or critique about them which wasn't wonderfully positive, some of their supporters will roundly turn on those villains and rip them to shreds as they have with me, along with any perceived rivals such as Jo. I suppose I am fair game but Jo should have been left out of this. I am not a karaoki follower so had never heard of them before and didnt realise what a terrible crime it was to comment on their performance.

I would therefore like to publicly apologise to Jo. If I hadn't posted on here Jo, you wouldn't have received the abuse of others.

Ali - I really don't think you have anything to apologise for, however, as a poster on this thread, if you apologise, then so do I. . . . . .

Hi guys thank you for your constructive comments and thank you for your support.

I would like to make it clear particularly to Curlywurly that you are absolutely entitled to your opinion as this forum is about free speech, if you do not 'like' me that is your perogative, however I do take issue in your comment that I am a 'disloyal person from your own personal experience', if you are going to make disparaging comments of this nature then you need to qualify what you mean.

I do not operate an 'exclusive' club and deeply appreciate the followers who support me, the entertainment industry is awash with amazing talent that I can only look on and applaud with respect and awe, myself and Steve support ourselves with our particular brand and have never had the attitude that customers are not at the forefront of our service, I am proud to say that we have thousands of delighted customers.

I am also aware that through life no matter what you do, there are a minority who cannot take or do not like a particular person, that's life, personally I accept it and move on, if we were all the same and liked the same people, life would be pretty boring. Whatever your medium for entertainment it is about enjoyment and happiness.

Aint that the truth - you can drive yourself nuts trying to keep everyone happy. :manic

As long as you're happy with what you're doing and it works then stick to it!
