FRIDAY 17TH & SATURDAY 18TH MAY - CHARITY PERFORMANCES,
Curtain Up 7.30pm at Emba Theatre.

Two one act plays are to be performed for charity on 17th and 18th May - The Real Inspector Hound by Tom Stoppard, directed by Geoff Greavey, and The Crucible by Arthur Miller, directed by Cathy Asater and the Youth Group. Solidarity Paphos is the charity that has been chosen to benefit from the performances. They are a registered charity based in Paphos whose mission is to build a community support network and help those less fortunate families in Paphos town and the surrounding villages. They organise the collection of food and necessary items for families experiencing serious hardships due to the on-going economic crisis here in Cyprus. Over 300 families are currently being helped who are not officially entitled to assistance as they fall outside of the municipal boundaries. Most of these families are out of work, without electricity and some have many children.

STAGE ONE YOUTH GROUP PRESENT: THE CRUCIBLE
By: Arthur Miller
Directed by: Cathy Asater and the Youth Group

Cast: Members of the Stage One Youth Group

STAGE ONE THEATRE GROUP PRESENT: THE REAL INSPECTOR HOUND
By: Tom Stoppard
Directed by: Geoff Greavey

Cast: Allan Devereux, Andy Fox, June Henderson, Terry Jones, Brian Randell, Lisa Remick, Peter Sandwith, Louise Vreony

The play is a comic spoof of the whodunits popularised by Agatha Christie, with the clichéd plot of a secluded English country manor house, ominous radio reports of a criminal on the loose, visitors behaving suspiciously, a relative with a shady past and an unidentified dead body. The plot is revealed to be not just about the country house guests, but also about the rivalry among theatre critics (and one critic’s infatuations with actresses!)

The event managed to raise €1400 for Solidarity Paphos. Many thanks to everyone who came to support this worthy cause!
