Post subject:  Twitchers called

We have just been watching from our balcony window, two small birds - sparrow size but slimmer, they have light brown bodies, but what caught our eye, was a rose coloured breast patch - and no they are not Robins, even I know what they look like. They are very noisy, but have only seen them in two's on the telephone wires. I thought that perhaps they may be young birds who have not got all their "grown up" feathers yet - clues please???
Please don't ask for a photo, I haven't graduated from the Box Brownie yet, cameras are a mystery to me.

many thanks for the suggestions & pics, I think I may have identified it as a scarlet rosefinch, perhaps a bit off course.

I have seen a similar pair of birds in our garden, though not for the past few days. Think they might be a kind of finch?

Many thanks Moggy - That's the one does it have a "common" name, if it is the one I thought, it is a scarlet rosefinch, do you agree?

Have tracked it down as a eurasian linnet. If its the same one I have seen it has a very distinctive call, a chirp then almost like a whistle.
