We tried it tonight and was very pleased with both the menu and the quality of the food. Very similar to the standard of Indian takeaway we used to get in the uk. Tandoori platter, chicken tikka masala, bombay potatoes and peas, keema nan and pilau rice - 27 euros. Very enjoyable and will definately return again. |

The name is, 'Its India'. We had a take away from there on wednesday and the food was very good. Chicken tikka masala, lamb rogan josh, bombay aloo, plain rice, pilau rice, butter nan, poppadoms. Price was 30.00 euros. Portion sizes were good, Dave had another meal with the left overs last night. We'll definitely use it again. Janette |

Post subject: | Re: indian |
whoops!!!!!! maybe we have been ruined in the North West uk for excelllent curry resteraunts.as we really do have some of the best in the uk......where we live... to say the least "I India" definitely WAS NOT run by Mr & Mrs Pattel...... I do not have any idea as to who is cooking....bet tho that he is NOT Indian...as he has no concept as to what Indian spices, flavours and textures are about talk about complete dissapointment......we where so excited to have an Indian take away on our doorstep as we used to frequent our fabulous Indian very often edd loves hot curry's so he ordered the chicken Vindaloo......which he was told was VERY HOT erm........it turned out as less than medium, spicy, runny, tomato soup with chicken bits in it to use edd's words.......he has eaten curry all over the world...and that curry sadly was as apertizing as an Arabs Dap I also like hot curry's, but not as hot as Edd's...so I ordered the Chicken Dhansak........which is described as Hot with a thick sauce.........I got a mildly spicy chick pea and lentil soup with chicken peices in it what a complete shame if they had made out they where selling spicy food and NOT Indian food......they would probably have got away with it as that most definitely is NOT Indian food it didn't taste like Thai food iether..........it was just spicy food well that's 2 customers lost.......till they get an Indian chef in a very dissapointed maggie ands edd x |

We are with you Maggie & Edd We also ordered the Chicken Vindaloo and Chicken Madras tonight......which we were told was VERY HOT & pretty hot Quote......."it turned out as less than medium, spicy, runny, tomato soup with chicken bits in it" Fully agree, the vindaloo wasn't good and the madras was like flavoured water.. neither were 'sauces' I suspect they might have been from an over diluted Ainsley Harriott East India Mulligatawny ready mix packet soup |

Wow, what a diference a few days can make. We couldn't fault ours on wednesday. Lets hope its just a few early glitches and will be sorted out. All the restaurants seem to have them over here. We'll try it again in a few weeks. Janette |

must admit.......we definitely will NOT being going back till they get an Indian Chef in as they have no idea ......of even the basics of Indian Sauce making what we ate..........didn't look like, smell or taste anything like Indian food even on an off day.....they shouldn't have been that far off the mark maggie |

Being a brummie where the Balti was "invented" never really found a proper Indian in my 5 years here, the nearest was when Gary used to do them at Nemos but he left & No idea where he is now..shame. All is what most of them do is throw some chilli power in & thats not what its all about, so I now make my own nearest I can get |

We went to Nemos last night and OH said that the curry there is just as good as Gary's was! His only criticism was that the Garlic Naan was not garlicky enough but he does like a lot of garlic! |

where to start after getting soaked up at the apop game yesterday[3-0 win]we decided to give the lodge a miss and give the new indian a go tried the two numbers for 10 mins with no luck so jumped in the jeep and headed up as its only 5 minutes up the hill, the place was mobbed and in chaos.they were pressing the delete button on both phones every time they rang so nobody could get through,i asked him thats how i could not get you to be told theres 5 in the kitchen and we are so busy. took my order then said it will be 45 mins,i told him if he answered the phone it would have saved all the hassle as there were lots of people in the same boat in the shop there were indian people cooking in the back as some one that comes from the north west and have great indains the food was more than good enough but we will be waiting a while till the heat dies down ps. hectors indain curry nights on a wednesday are the best we have had here |

From an earlier post - Went to the new Kurri Kurri last night. The food was ok, not a large menu but sufficient choices for different tastes. What we did find though was that the dishes were considerably hotter than normal. My husband had a Jalfrezzi and couldn't eat it as too hot and I had buttered chicken which was considerably hotter than should be. Price wise starters are around 5 euros, mains 9.95 euros and Desserts 5.50 euros. Also you have to buy your poppadums!!!! We had 1 starter, 2 mains, 2 Desserts, 1 dish poppadums (3), 1 large Carlsburg and 1 glass of wine 48.90 euros!!! Don't think we will be rushing back!! Yvonne |

Post subject: | Re: indian |
might try as most Indian dishes CAN be hot especillay Chilli hot and NOT pepper hot it's the chilli hot that we would like to try alongside that is of spices like.......Fenugreek, Cinamon, Cardamons, Cummin seads, Corriander, bay leaves, cloves, ginger and garlic to name a few of the spices used to make an excellent curry and added as my favorite favorite .......when cooking myself........star anise.....wow.....what a personal kick does star anise add maggie |

Jean wrote: There is a spice shop on TOTK opposite the Roman Hotel, next door to Beauty Nail - heard good reports of their selection. I love this shop. The price are good, particularly if you use a lot of spices as they do a lot of them in bigger packs (as well as small in most cases) so even cheaper. They've even started doing frozen stuff as well. I need to go back soon. |

Might sound a bit srange but the best indan curry we have had is the 'thai red curry' from City Wok. we were really looking forward to having thai curry and when it arrived and we opened it, it looked nothing like a thai curry (no way coconut milk has been near it)! It is more of an indan curry, quite spicy and very, very tasty. As I say, nothing like a thai one but if we ever fancy an indan, we now order that....go on, give it a try! better than any of the 'indian' restaurants we have tried here |
