Bale set for crunch Spurs talks
Gareth Bale's future at Tottenham has risen to the top of Spurs chairman Daniel Levy agenda after he was forced to cut short his holiday and flew to London for crunch talks with the €100 million-rated winger.

As an Arsenal fan I am astonished that my club has offered over £40 million for a single player, it's just unheard of and as to the worth of Garath Bale ..... he is a talented player with a great eye for goal but I don't think that ANY player is worth so much money. There is a view that a great player will generate a lot of money for the club he joins from the Champions League and commercial outlets but Bale alone wasn't able to help his current club qualify for the Champions League this year.

So a resounding NO from me

Hi Charnwood, first reaction no, but when you see the prices that have been paid in recent times you wonder,Bale is only 24 years old,so far he has delivered the goods, playing in a better team he could improve, there is probably only about half a dozen clubs world wide who could raise the loot.we wait and see.

You must remember that the object of the game is winning.
If you are a proven goal scorer (Bale) you will be helping the team to win.
The rewards for winning are big....more fans, more merchandise, prize money etc.
Thus goal scorers demand high transfer fees,

Basic economics......supply and demand, so the answer is yes.

Slightly more complicated than that Alan,at one end of the scale the sellers who are fighting to survive and the budget busting ambition of the buyers, and of course there are no guarantees for either.
