That's a very balanced review there - bloke has an equally massive chip on both shoulders!

Relieved with the point at Brum, although we could have taken all 3 in the end - the second half performance had the feel of a turning point to me - if we can maintain that and get 3 points from Fulham this weekend I would go so far to say that we're as good as safe, but this is the toon we're talking about, so things are rarely that straightforward....

Do you really think you'll be safe after a win against Fulham ?
I know Keano says relax but that's ridiculous !

Well I should have expected it but I just find Keegan's remarks in the Sunday papers ridiculous.
" That win takes the pressure off everyone at the club" :?:
" it has been a good week, by our standards a great week "
" We haven't got a big squad but it's quality " :?:
"Viduka is different to anyone else in the Premier League "
"Michael has led this team fantastically" :?:
"He's definately in form"
"It was a typical Owen goal he's the best in the world at that"
" The crowd were magnificent"
"We can relax a little"
Bloody hell man this was not one of your main rivals( think Man United, Barcelona here) it was Fulham. Second bottom and not won an away game all season.
And after Sunderland had beaten European chasing Aston Villa at Villa Park, Keano told the press " We looked like a solid Premier league side "
Back to the land of the living, Gary

Gary,

I think it wouldn't matter who we played, it was a relief that we won & even more so against one of the teams who could put more pressure on us in th relegation stakes

It'll be the same whoever we play for the rest of the season, including you lot, as every point counts & as we have the Spurts next, that should pull us a little closer to them after we win again

Yes you got a lucky 83rd min goal but who scored it :? oh yeah Chopra, a Geordie boy   I bet that sticks in your throat that you have to thank a Geordie for your win

You may call me deluded but at least I have faith in my team to survive :D :D

Dear Deluded Pete
Having faith in your team is admirable and I salute you for that ! I've read enough of your posts over the past 6 months when the topic is Newcastle United FC and I know you are deluded.( In fact in a previous life you admitted that you were)
The first line of your most recent post certainly does make good sense. Do you really think you will beat Spurs at the
Lane ? If so you've been reading too much of Keegone's quotes in the tabloid press as you call them.
As for Chopra being a geordie, well it makes no difference to me whatsoever. He was brave enough to make the move and honest enough to say he supports the mags. As long as he does not behave in the way that oaf Lee Clark did then there'll be no problem.
I don't think he was worth £5m but to his credit he has been played out wide on the right and expected to do midfield duties so has been played out of position an awful lot.He got a good goal disallowed at Derby and then a good goal at Villa in the 83rd minute( so what doesn't a match last 90 minutes in the world of delusion).
He's getting a little pattern going by scoring in away games, I can just see him getting the winner at Sid James Park. What sort of reaction will the toon give to your geordie boy then eh ?
Regards as always, your Mackem mate, gary 8)

I've never been deluded by the tabloids mate, I never read them

As for beating the Spurts at the lane, we've done them the last 3 times, so what make you think we won't again :?

And for Chopra, the boys is a Mag thru & thru, that's why he couldn't hoit a barn door from 5 yds when we played you at the Stade de Fright, even tho he had plenty of chances

Faith is all you need mate, faith in the knowledge that come the summer, we will be supplied with what we deserve... plenty of transfer funds, just like all the other top half teams, ie Spurt, Villa, Spam, Pool, Ports, City etc etc

We might even buy Jones off you when you get relegated

Ha Ha buy Jones off us, you wish !
You should go for Carlos Edwards, Craig Gordon, Keiron Richardson, Andy Reid, Jonny Evans,Dean Whitehead , Nuggsy Nosworthy and Roy Keane as well !
I tell you what, there's more chance Terry Mac being given a proper role at Sid James than you beating Spurs. :D
Dreammmm,Dream,Dream,Dream......

Pete/CF/LF9

I seems you lot are about to follow your old habits of self imploding just when you think you are about to turn things round.

That nice Mr Ashby has had a bad day at the office recently and lost over 120million of his fortune on the recent Stock Market turmoils. Added to that is apparent disillusionment with KKK and his lack of success since arriving and it seems his love affair with football could be coming to an end.

After spending 130million buying the club and a further 100milion clearing debts he didn't discover during his due dilligence checks, he may be willing to sell for 200million if he got the right offer.

Before anyone says who will find that amount to buy the club, he is supposed to be in talks with DIC who are struggling to buy Liverpool at the moment.

Even if he does stay for a bit longer he is now unlikely to free up the large amounts everyone is expecting in the summer. Not that that will make much difference to KKK, he is not likely to still be at the club as manager for next season.

If KKK does go Martin Jol could well be in line for the manager role at the Toon. Ashby's biggest friend, both in football and in his private life is an ex Spurs director. It was that chap who recommended Chris Hughton as coach for the Toon recently and don't forget Houghton and Jol had a really good relationship while they were at Spurs together.

If all of this does happen how good wil it be for the Toon to eventually realise where they have been going wrong for all these years and try to follow in Spurs footsteps, even if they are taking our castoff's once again.

Maybe now you Toon fans could wind your necks in a bit and stop crowing about how there is light at the end of the tunnel for you all. The only light you can see is a train heading toward you.

Here's to Sunday and hopfully a good game. I must be honest and say the use of Viduka, Owen and Martin's together does seems as though it will help you score goals and agaisnt a defence like ours that is not something I am looking forward too. I only hope Owen gets a game tomorrow and then gets injured.

Not that Roger (lf9) and I will be watching we are out for a meal to celebrate his retirement.

See you next week Pete.

Reagrds.

John

Hello John,

Where you been hiding since your last post, seems ages :D

You must stop reading all those southern tabloids mate, you're getting as bad a DP with all this drivel about Ashley selling the club, KK leaving & us getting no war chest again :lala

Personally, I think you're bricking yourself at the fact we're going to beat you (again) like we have done so often :celebrate

I'll be at the pub to watch the match with my youngest son, who's over tomorrow on holiday for 2 weeks, he's also a TOON supporter & it will be good to have him see us win at the Lane :clapping

So don't forget to bring the Mars Bar, as DP will owe me one also

I read in a couple of papers that those in the know are adamant that Ashley wants to sell. It appears he paid £140m for the club and another £100m to clear debts, a lot of which he did not know he was inheriting. he is still seething at this and last week lost £129m on the value of his shares.( Don't ask me which shares)
After initially wanting £300m for the club, he will now accept £200m.
Now before Pete has a go at me for believeing what I read, I noticed he was not critical of Capt Fantastic when he recently quoted the Shields Gazette.
Oh and how embarrassing must it be for the mags to have to concede that Joey Barton will not be available for the last match of the season away at Everton as he is on bail for assault and one of the conditions of his bail is that he is not allowed to enter Merseyside.
You couldn't make it up!
Gary
Sorry, didn't read the post from Boogaloo and your reply. Sorry for basically saying what Boogs said. But Pete that's come from two of us so it must be right.
As for your son watching the mags, why? has he been naughty ?
I noticed also Pete that you are no longer bracketing your club with Real Madrid,Barcelona,Milan,Man Utd etc but have dropped your sights and now rate yourselves alongside Spurs,Pompey and Man City. Well that's a step in the right direction but if you had said Sunderland,Boro,Bolton and Reading you'd have been closer.
Good day Your Mackem Mate, Gary
