What a sad person he is, all that talent wasted. After reading his first book --not surprised at last nights event-- I do hope he can get the help he needs. To be honest when his name was mentioned on the north east news I thought they were going to say he had been found dead. So So sad. Marj

Hi Marj,

Fantastis talent and yet after reading his book and watching the documentary when he was playing in China etc, such a troubled and tormented soul.

Still no excuses for what he did to his wife (Cheryl?) at the time, but I do hope he gets the help he so desperately needs. :(

Who can forget the goal against Scotland and the celebrations afterwards!! :D And many others....

Regards,

Ian :D

A great player in his time, but just like others, ie George Best, he couldn't cope with what he was given & it's ruined his & other people's lives

Its such a shame & I truely hope he finds serenity in his life :(

He isn't the first to fall & he won't be the last either

Should never have left Newcastle when he did - admitted himself later that he received bad advice from an agent looking to take his cut - the money and bright lights of London were too big a distraction for such an impressionable young lad.

Real shame to see how he's ended up.

Were Newcastle a succesful team when he left them (were they ever ?) because you can't blame him for trying to progress in his career like with one of the big teams ? Well that should have been the plan..

Well he's been sectioned under the Mental Health Act and sent to an institution for retards with no chance of recovery.
"We're glad to have him back !" said Kevin Keegan.
DP

Hold on - let's not have any tears for this lump of lard - he decided to leave the North East for the bright lights of London and he is now reaping the rewards. How is it that he spends his time in a hotel in Newcastle when his so called close family and friends are but 3 miles away????? Would you allow a Son/Daughter to stay long term in a hotel when as a Father or Mother you lived within 3 miles??????

None of you who have contributed so far have any idea of Gazza. He blew it the day he left Newcastle because he couldn't cope. He is a disgrace and an embarassment to Newcastle and Geordie's world-wide.

And before anyone starts off replying and comparing him to George Best - George actually achieved something - what did Gazza do apart form make a fool of himself????

Roger-- who said any one was crying-- I certainly am not- as sad a figure he is- I cant be as hard as you are. I think any one in his desperate state should have a little compassion shown them. What leaving the north east has to do with anything beats me, if the man is ill he's ill no matter where he is. I am a "Geordie " and he doesn't embarrass me on bit. Marj

as far as i'm concerened he's got what he deserved, when he done that tackle to charles in the cup final, i think that was the begining of his downfall,
he had to much money and it went to his head,
by the way, is this the same trolly dolly who we saw in pissouri one saturday and then saw in polis the saturday with your teacher friend?

LF9, I don't claim to know Gazza, I'm a Mackem and posted a joke.
You seem bitter, why's that ?
Left the North East blah blah got what he deserves.....wot's that all about? moving on ..
With better management or a better temprement he could have been a real star..... but he's no George Best.
Should we pity him, I think not, he will have been given lots of expert advice throughout his career but he chose not to take it, obviously.
C'est la vie.

I agree Marj, I have no love for this guy, but cant help feeling a little bit sad that someone who had it all on a plate just threw it away. I feel more sad for his family than I do for him. Embarrassment doesn't come in to it. Why feel embarrassed for someone who you dont know personally and it has no effect on your life.
