Be careful! ITV HD accidentally broadcast an advert during the match at a very important time. Loads of English fans in the UK, actually missed seeing England's goal live!

Not techie minded when it comes to TV - I can download on the pc but satellite stuff is a bit beyond me, mainly because TV isn't necessarily the be all and end all for me..... But, we just bought a new TV at the weekend with HD and have managed to pick up the odd HD channel in the daytime when some of the footy has been on...

What do we need with this decoder exactly to make it work?

We have an arab satellite tv package with a 90cm dish - does that have any bearing on what we get with the decoder?

Any help is appreciated as I feel a trip to some electrical shop could be on the cards... My other half is very interested!!!!

Hi Shell,

If your new tv has mpeg 4 then you should be able to pick up the new Cyprus terrestrial HD channel via a normal aerial ( not satellite) without an additional decoder box. At the moment the HD channel is only transmitting world cup games live and at other times a test card is shown.

Thanks for that...... I think our problem is we've never had a good signal with our arial on the terrestrial channels which is why we went to the small dish satellite in the first instance when we had the hotbird system before we moved to arab sat.

The picture was always grainy or broken up. Other half was out looking at the other houses around us yesterday and although our arial is pointing in the same direction as theirs, ours is lower down in comparison.

The others are all positioned on extra scaffolding poles or other such structures!
