Them were the days when the Newcastle v Liverpool matches resulted in 7 goals, a 4-3 victory usually to the other side but maybe one of the best matches you ever get to watch :D

So this weekend see us visiting the POOL at anfield, them on the back of a 4-0 thrashing of West Ham, us on the back of 1-0 defeat at home to Blackburn  which shouldn't have happened :(

KK has signed his first of many players, Senegal Captain Diatta, a central defensive player, so along with Beye & Faye, we have 3 of the 4 players who took Senegal quite far in the African Nations Cup, so will it help us at Anfield this weekend :? :?

I predict a draw, may 1-1, Owen scoring for us & Torres for the POOL

It's amazing what a new signing can do for your memory isn't it?
Pete, you seem to have forgotten how bad your lot are lately. Even if Liverpool are somewhat fatigued by last night's efforts you won't get owt !
Go to the Doctor's, your delusion is coming back !

Well it seems we won't have the Senegal Captain after he talked himself out of a luctrative contract by asking for more time:

Pete

Have to say, in all honesty, I remember fondly those 4-3 games, and not just because Newcastle lost them. They were fun to watch and must have been brilliant to attend, unless you were KK.

Given the strengthing of the Toon defence this week I think we could be on for another 7 goal thriller. Question is will it be 6-1 or 7-0.

I do worry for the Toon and their continued presence in the league. If it hadn't been for the favourable fixture list at the start of the season just think where you would be now. Of course the down side to the easy start is the hard finish.

I think you will gain enough points to see you through, but I cannot see you getting more than 35 or 36, that would have seen you relegated any other season.

I hope when you do escape the drop it does not cloud the eyes of the supporters and the club management, avoiding the drop on 35 or 36 points in not something that should be celebrated.

I have my ticket for the Lane on March 30 to hopefully see us get 3 poitns off you at last. I will beacross in Paphos from April 1. Make sure you have the Mars Bar ready for me.

You can also give me the one for the highest finishers in the league if you want, it will save you waiting until May.

See you soon.

John

DP - Its not delusion mate, its blind faith but being a Makem, you wouldn't know anything about that  You should worry more about your own team than ours :D

Boo - Don't get you're hopes to high mate, the 3 points your lot seem to gift us, maybe the 3 points that keep us up this season & I'd be very happy to finish 17th this season, as long as we stay up but I'll leave the Mars Bar until later if you don't mind as I said, it might be even stevens by he end of the season

Ha Ha Ha well said Boogs. :D
Pete I do worry about my dearly beloved lot but you came on here bumping your gums about the skunks getting a draw at Liverpool. I merely replied to your absurd prediction.
Your mate, Gary
Carrefour are selling boxes of 48 Mars Bars on offer at the mo !

Gary,

It's not bumping my gums, because at my age mate, I still have all my teeth, unlike some

If I was to go about saying we were going to lose 6-1 or 7-0, it wouldn't be any use me supporting my team, that's where the blind faith come in mate :D :D

You should try it sometimes, you never know, you might like it

As for Mars Bars, you should ask Boo who has had the better outcome between his & my teams :o

Chas,
It's obvious you don't live anywhere near Newcastlefor you to say that when KK arrived their aim was survival. No mate they were gonna buy a couple of pla yers like Deco  and Berbatov :D and qualify for Europe and the country was gonna be transfixed by their swashbuckling entertaining displays of free scoring footy.
Believe me that's what is supposed to have happened.
Gary

Ignore Gary's ramblings Chas, you've got it spot on here!

Fully expecting another humping at Anfield, our only real hope of avoiding it is if Rafa decides to rest Torres and Gerrard for the Champion's League game in Milan 3 days later

CF

Trust me mate Gary is not rambling on this one, not this time anyway. When KK arrived the whole place was a whooping and a hollering about the second coming of God and how the Toon were going to be turned around and qualify for Europe this season.

Despite the voice of reason coming from many quarters there was no talking to Newcastle supporters for the first couple of weeks. Then reality began to dawn on them and they started to realise no one was going to roll over and die just cos KK had returned.

During the transfer window at one stage Newcastle were buying Deco, Kaka, Beckhan and Ronaldinho according to the papers. I accept you cant believe 10% of what is in the papers the point is it was fueling the hysteria of the Toon supporters.

If I recall correctly Newcastle only brought in an 18 year old italian defender, who has yet to appear on the team sheet.

For once I actually agree with the Management as they seemed to be trying to act with a bit of caution and not rush into buying every Johnny Foreigner. However that means they have to get through the rest of the season with the squad they have and they are clearly not very good.

Although I don't support Newcastle I am a born and bred Geordie and I don't want them to be relegated. That also applies to Sunderland and Middlesboro as the region needs to 3 teams in the top league.

If you look back to last weekend Reading had suffered 8 successive defeats and were away to the Boro. They managed to turn it round, all bad runs come to and end, and all good runs must end as well. I can't see you winning this weekend, but I do see you staying up.

I just hope Spurs get 3 points down the lane at the end of the month, even if it's just to save Pete's teeth from the sugar in the Mars bars I have to give him.

Regards.

John

You see, the problem with Gary is, he's one of these people who seems to believe what the southern tabloids say about Newcastle, even when they say we were going to buy Deco, Ronaldinio, Berbatov etc

I've the same feeling as CF, we will probably get another thumping this week & then we have to win a few, which I hope includes the Spurts match, as I need my sugar fix again & if you remember last season, if it wan't for the Spurts gifting us 6 points, we could have been fighting a relegation battle then

I just hope by the time the summer comes, we have secured a place in the Prem & KK is given at least the £90m that is being suggested in the same tabloids that Gary reads, as we should be able to get some decent players, not any of the above mentioned, as they're not what we need until we get a proper team together, some players that will stand & fight to wear the B&W :D

would it have been any different if it was sir bobby robson, or arsene wenger, or rudd hullit for that matter, no matter who the new manager was the fans would have been saying the same thing, it's the same with any club who appoints a new boss, the papers hype it up, and the fans think there team is going to qualify for champions league football the same year, even if there team has no chance,
that's what the difference is between fans it's all about passion and belief

(except if your a gooner of course, because we know were in the champions league every year) :crylaughin :) :D

Arsenal,

I remember the time in the mid-90's when it was Man Usa & Newcastle who were in the Champions league & you had to settle for the Uefa cup instead :D :D

How things change over a decade but you're right about the fans apssion & their aren't any fans more passionate than the TOON army

Boogs. Me ramble ? Don't think so.
Pete. I don't only read Southern Papers as you put it. The Chronic and Journal were full of the same s**t about your prospective signings and If I fell for it so did you, I could refer to some of your earlier postings.
CF. You are guity too. You actually posted earlier in the year saying "when we get to Europe"
Arsenal. Yet again you spoil a reasonable post by chucking a line in at the end showing what a sweetheart you are!
LF9. Sorry but I'm gonna have to let your secret out. Guys LF9 pm'd me earlier and confided that although he's in Paphos and could easily drop into the G and D for the match, he's watching it at the New Horizon with a few scousers. He doesn't like scousers but says there's a more informed clientelle at the NH than there is at the G&D.
Ramble over

Gary,

I think LF9 got in before you mate & said he'll be in the New Horizon Bar but that's his choice, as is your choice to read Southern tabloids along with The Chronic and Journal  after all, they are all full of bogus stories

If LF9 feels he gets a better 'informed clientelle' at the NH Bar, then I'm slightly worried, as he lives in the TOON, so should know more than any of us as to what is happening   but again, it's his choice & we won't belittle that, as we have quite like the G&D, as he doesn the NH

Cheer up mate, you're not relegated yet but the longer it goes on, the more significance our derby becomes for both of us

Now now Gary, you're wilfully misquoting me now - all I did was recite the famous EIEIEIO Keegan song from his last coming -you're worse than a tabloid journalist! :P

As to the G&D version NH debate, I've been in the New Horizon a couple of times for the games (I have to drive past it to get to the George) and it's OK but the things I don't like are that the tellys aren't very big, so unless you're really close you can't see too well, and they cram all the games in the same area together, so your commentary gets lost in among 3 or 4 other matches.

I prefer the George because Marios always puts the toon on the main screen, will reserve our seats in the busier summer months so I always get my favourite spot, and I get a ready supply of Keo without even having to ask for it - plus there's a decent knowledgable crowd of Geordies there (although abmittedly Pete's presence has pulled the overall average down in recent weeks.... )

Heading off to the game shortly - once more unto the breach dear friends....

Maybe this could happen............

It's on course for this special result........

as at the moment it's 3 - 0 for one of the teams..........

Bloody Hell lads, if it wasn't for the bad luck Newcastle had yesterday they wouldn't have any luck at all. The first goal was so unfortunate, bet 99 times out of a 100 that would have gone out for a goal kick.

I am being honest here and not trying to wind you lot up. I thought you held them until that freak goal went in but then you just folded. It does make me fear for you as your luck certainly seems to have deserted you.

Just think before the kick off yesterday Reading were in the relegation zone, now they are above you lot. Doomed your all doomed.

Going back to a couple of the previous comments, Arsenal, during the period the Toon we looking for the new manager Big Harry was the favourite if you recall. In fact he would have signed had he not insisted he commuted from the South Coast. Locally however there was not a great deal of support for his appointment, so no it would not have been the same irrespective of who was appointed.

BTW, Don't mention Ruud Gullit, I am the reason he left Newcastle, Honest.

When Big Sam left the fans were only interested in 2 people as his replacement, KK or Shearer. Anyone else would have faced the same divided supporters Sam faced. (Unless the world came to a stop and Jose had been appointed, Ha ha)

Ashby, who I acknowledge is a shrewd business man, got KK mainly to buy himself some time. By getting Keegan he got the supporters back on side, he made sure the supporters didn't pull against the club for the rest of this season and he will then see how to change direction in the summer. It will be interesting to see if KK is still there at the start of next season.

Incidentally Newcastle are 16 to 1 to will the league next season. The problem is, it is the Championship and not the Premier League.

Roger (LF9), glad you are enjoying the first few days of your reitrement, you may have left us on an early retirement package but lets be honest, it is not that "early". Work is still the same, not that you are interested now. How lucky are you as well, mate. You arrive there just as the temperature rises. Some folk have all the luck, unlike your team.

Well got to go now, Spurs will be getting beat off the mighty Hammers later, but at least we are in Europe next season.

Enjoy yoursleves

John
