Very magnaminous smurf! :D

Can start planning ahead for next season now - Keegan has big money to spend by all accounts, but has been bigging his current squad up over the weekend so I'm not sure we'll see the major surgery many were anticipating.

This is still Keegan though, so I reckon we'll see a couple of new strikers, a creative midfielder, and very possibly one "superstar" signing in the mould of Henry, Deco or similar....

Yes I'm sure if you pay silly money you'll be able to get a superstar to drop from a big club to join you.

As opposed to paying silly money trying to persuade journeyman Championship players to come and play for you??

:D

Yes, our journeyman championship players are doing about the same as your overpaid overhyped star players.

You'll be talking about the £9m they paid for a Goalie then   You'd think he'd have saved a few more goals than the 2 FREE goalies we have wouldn't you

He's not doing bad Pete.
In fact, as the season has gone on he's won us all round.
He made a world class save on Satday and if you look at our goals against recently we've shored it up at the back.
I've no complaints.

Aye, saw that one - quality save.

Reminded me very much of one Shay Given made from Kevin Phillips at our place a few years back....

Not biting guys sorry  He may be a good goalie but he's not worth £9m by any standard,,, :manic

If he is, then that would make Cech is worth what, £15-20m

No one would pay that for a goalie, well no one but Chelski maybe

Nah, it wasn't that game I was thinking of - that was a couple of years earlier, and the "pain in the rain" that we suffered at the time actually did us a big favour as it helped us get rid of Gullit and bring in Sir Bobby.

Simlar to the play off defeat years earlier (I was at that one too, even smuggled my mackem brother-in-law into the Milburn paddocks with us as he couldn't get a ticket for the away end - took all my willpower not to out him when it all went pear shaped! :D ) - seemed a disaster at the time, but ultimately led to us getting Keegan, and the rest is history! :D

What a night that was, the play off in 1990. That was the G force that did you that night.
Getting back to £9m for a goalie, Liverpool want that much for Scott Carson.
If you look at Shay Given and all the saves he's made and points he's saved over the years what would he be worth to your club.
I know you didn't pay anything like that for him but he's been worth a lot of money to you. I think that is what Keane sees in Gordon.

Ultimately a player is worth what someone is prepared to pay for him.

The fact that Gordon was willing to leave the relative comfort of the SPL for a relegation fight in England also made him an attractive option - there's a few keepers out there in the 9 million price bracket, but not many would be overly keen on heading to Wearside!
