It seems Darren Bent has been watched closely during the pre-season friendlies with a view to a possible call up to the England squad for next week's game. His 12 goals in 6 games seems to have impressed the FA.

Maybe he isn't a donkey after all.

John

Maybe not but who says he'll do the same in the EPL as he's done in pre-season :? :?

Maybe he just can't hack the EPL & is better in the SPL or CCC & anyhow, what do the FA know about football...

Your final point hit the nail on the head, what do that lot of old duffers know about football. All they are interested in is the free trips to exotic places.

Lets see if he gets picked and how he does in his first few games, after all we only have the Smoggies then the Mckems in our first 2 games of the season.

If he thinks he has a chance with England maybe that will strengthen our chances after all.
I mean he'll want regular football and he may not get it with Spurs.

Steady on Gary, you sound almost as silly as Pete. Are you suggesting playing for your lot would enhance his England chances rather than playing for SPURS. He has scored 12 goals in his last 6 games. I accept they were pre season friendlies but they will have done his confidence a power of good.

I can see him starting as one of our main strikers on Saturday as he is the one in form at the moment.

Anyway you can't buy him, the buy one get two free period has now expired.

Cheers

john

Well from what I've seen, looks like he'll be your only striker the way your lot are going John... :smilielol

Boogs, Yes I know Bent wants to stay at Spurs but the offer is still on the table.
I do know that Bent has been impressed with Keane, the other Spurs players we got have siad that.
You just never know.

Ah yes, that will be the much vaunted "Keane Effect" :doh I've been fortunate enough via my secret sources to gain an insight into this miraculous triumph of man-management being employed so successfully by the Irish dog-worrier, and it seems it goes a little like this:

Look, I know we're a bit rubbish and a clear step down, but we'll pay you 3 times as much as you're getting at the moment, and you can even take my dog home at the weekends

PS Southgate is so ugly his dog won't let him.
Keegan doesn't need a dog, he's got TerryMac to play with.
