Thought it was time I posted about football and my club in particular. What do you think of this team ?
Gordon
Chimbonda
Ferdinand
Collins
McArtney
Malbranque
Tainio
Reid
Richardson
Cisse
Diouf
Subs
Fulop, Nosworthy, Bardsley, Whitehead, Miller, Healey, Murphy.
Wouldn't mind seing that team when we go down to Wigan this week. You could easily see Bardsley and Nosworthy in there mind and Leadbitter has been doing okay too.
Eight new players there though and it was obvious against City they were not used to each other.
They will need to bond but when they do I think we'll be okay.
Note for CF. Only 2 Oirish in that team !
We are going down to Wigan, never been there before so it's another ground to add to the list.

you should be happier than last season, a much stonger looking squad, have still seen stronger teams relegated like so hope they dont get complacent

Once they are used to each other we should be okay. I can only comment on my team and I know Smurf, you are crowing about the Boro, and things do look good for you, but some of the play in the first half last week was something else.
Reid, who is a clever player with a sweet left peg, Malbranque in particular and Richardson had City chasing shadows and looking dumfounded.
Cisse was making run after run but wasn't picked out. It all went pear shaped I know and the defence is still iffy but if we can make some progress this year we'll be on track. Turnover is expected to increase to £100m this year and Our consortium have just raised another £50m from new shares.
Considering they bought the club for £10m as Pete is quick to point out, plus about £40m debt that they paid off, the eight members must be looking at a healthy profit for their investment.
Sorry for rabbitting I just feel like talking footy.

Looks a far stronger 11 than last season for sure - still think you've overpaid for quite a few of those players, but at least you have a board who backs their manager. :(

With the developments at Man City though, that glass ceiling is getting further and further away.....

Just heard we've sold all our tickets for Wigan, that's 5,400 and we've asked for more.
In this day what with the credit crunch etc that's good going. There's not many clubs could do that.

Just need to start selling them all for your own ground now and you'll be well on your way....

I know you will disagree but I'm telling you as Newcastle is the major city in the region they have a bigger population to choose from. You know that's the case even though you will argue differently.
Mate the state of your club at the mo leads me to think you should not be having a dig at any others. I have gone easy on you and you know I have.
I won't in future. It was foolish of me really to treat you as a bit of a mate. Won't make that mistake again.

Well it's not only quiet on PP Sports section, it's also quiet on the North East football front. I know Boogs has a theory about Poyet ending up at Newcastle and he might but there's a rumour that Ashley has got a buyer lined up also and will pull out from Sid James.
On the Boro front away to Pompey, the only news I've heard is that Tuncay is out for 2 months. So that's just Mido, Downing and Alves for us to worry about next week.
As for The Mackems, we are at Wigan and I'll be sinking a few in The Red Robin before game if I can find it. I tipped Wigan for a good season, I think they might get as high as 6th. We never do well there I've noticed Nosworthy always seems to have trouble handling Heskey. I think there will be goals, let's hope we can get some of them.

Well the team might look good on paper but this was not a performance to write home about.
Had an uneventful trip down, 4 of us went, and we got to the pub earlier than expected 12.10pm but it was still pretty full.
The sun was shining !
We sat in the beer garden and the crack was good. Went to the ground which is on a retail park and have to say, was impressed with it. Good stadium.
The match was uneventful. Good old Titus did his best to ensure we won but it was not enough.
Wigan piled on the pressure in the second half but I got the impression Keane was happy with a point.
We lost 3-0 here last season so I suppose it is progress. Bring back Kenwyne Jones !

PS How did the Mags get on ?

I had long suspected Titus was a mackem in disguise.

You might be right, you can imagine the scenes in the away end when he did that ! "He's one of us he's one of us, he's one of Bramble's one of us!"
Which was repaced by the same song substitute Ashley for Bramble when news filtered through that the mags were getting beat.
I'm sure your day will come.
