Should Owen be playing for England ?
I watched an interview on SkysPorts last night with Ray Clemence who was explaining that the reason Owen was not selected was basically cos he was playing in a team low on confidence and they were not creating chances for him. Eh ?
Surely then if he were amongst England players he would be with a group of players who were confident and who have the ability to provide chances for him.
Clemence totally contradicted himself.
Owen should be picked.

Well even though he's playing for team low on confidence, he's still been able to score 5 goals this season :o That's equal if not better than any of the strikers Capello has chosen

He was non existent in the match on Sunday, I think he only touched the ball a couple of times.

Has it been confirmed anywhere that he will miss the Derby ?
I read that he was 50/50 for the Citeh game. Nowt said about the Derby.
If he does, console yourselves in the knowledge that Kenwyne is very unlikely to play as well.

Don't think you will miss him though ? Since leaving Liverpool his form just hasn't been as good, whether it is even good enough for England or premiership league is debatable !

His form when he's actually played has been surprisingly decent - 21 goals in 50 appearances.

It's the fact that he's only managed 50 appearances in 3 and a half years that's the problem!

Plus there's the issue that Mr Capello seems to have a problem with, that when he's not scoring he contributes little else to the team. I think if he does go somewhere like Chelsea he'll be used sparingly as he was at Real Madrid, mainly as a sub to try find gaps in stubborn defences.

One paper said Chelski will only spend £10m in January.
Another has quoted Owen as saying Newcastle are ready to make a bid for a European place

Maybe he was talking about European football because he'll be with a team who's playing in Europe at present or will be next season, as it looks like he'll be sold in Jan or the summer anyway

Well Owens made a decision not to make a decision until the end of the season as to whether he will take the TOONs offer or look else where to ply his footie next season & beyond

In other words, he's bottled it & doesn't want the TOON fans to boo him for the next 6 months.... saying that, if he's made that decision, does that mean he WONT be looking at other clubs in the Jan Transfer window either :? :?

I DON'T THINK SO :!:

You're not wrong - this is the thin end of the wedge.

Not to worry though, super-Shola has signed a new contract.
