Boy's

I am sure you would not have expected me to let last nights events go without one or two words from your most ardent Spurs fan on PP.

First of all I would like to say it is not easy being a Spurs fan, we went into the match against a team from a lower league with a 3 goal advantage and we still couldn't hold onto it. During the game we nearly scored what would have been one of the best own goals ever and we were made to look very ordinary by a Burnley team who were going to fight and die for each other from the start. Hats off to all of them, if only we had the same degree of passion in our team.

Having said all of that the result means not only are we in the final once again to defend our trophy but we are now guaranteed European football for next season as well, even if we do end up in the Championship.

The last 10 minutes or so of extra time were extremely hard to watch for me as I hadn't realised away goals would count double at the end of extra time and if we had not scored we we would have been out. I thought it would have gone to penalties, I knew buying that Russian centre forward would pay off at some time.

So it's bring on Man Utd for the final and lets just hope we manage to beat them the same way as we managed to beat Chelsea in last years final.

One last word. With the final being it Wembley it does mean the supporters from both teams won't have far to travel as most Man Utd supporters live in London anyway.

Cheers

John (8 days away from retirement).

I'm pretty sure you only get Europe if you actually win it with the League Cup?

I watched the match last night, as there was nowt else on & I must say for 118 minutes, I've never seen you lot play so crap & it saddens me that Burnley didn't go throw on away goals at the end of time as that's how it should have been as they played you off the park

I think Martins right, that you have to win the League Cup to qualify for europe mate, its only the FA Cup that the finalists get through if beaten buy a team already qualified for Europe, so you best hope that Arry puts out a strong team, as Manc USA are after all 4 cups this season so that Sir Fergie can retire as the most successful manager ever

Cup finals, splashing the cash, full houses, charasmatic manager, players wanting to play for the club, there's a big difference these days between Spurs and the geordies.
Gary
They do have one thing in common.......cockneys in charge !

With Pete and Martin being the font of all knowledge regarding all things football related I will obvioulsy accept your superior knowledge about qualification for europe next year, not that it is likely to concern your club this season will it.

Pete, Can you explain what you mean with your comment about Spurs being just like your lot in the 90's as I am struggling to see what it is you are referring to? Many thanks.

Cheers

John (7 days away from retirement) :D :D :D

Pete

Thanks for the clarification, I understand what you are referring too now. I do however think we have taken it one step further than your prime team of the 90's managed - after all we win things unlike your lot.

After today's match it seems we are now down to one opportunity for silverware. I think the thing we did wrong today was to score too early, that just annoyed Man Utd. After that we didn't really trouble them did we.

Still roll on March 1 for a chance for revenge (LOL).

Cheers

John (6 days from retirement).

But we did 2 things your team haven't been able to do, even with all the millions you've spent.... we got into the Champions League & Top 4 for several seasons  haven't seen you do that in the Premiership yet, in fact, I think you're highest was 5th (twice) wasn't it

Champions League via the back door, which is taken for granted now, oh and you won the Fairs Cup in 67 didn't you ?
That was pre curly perm, should I ask Captain Nutmeg that one ?
There is no comparison between Spurs and the geordies.
Wake Up !
Gary
