JGG, you did not deserve that, I am so naughty.

However there is a umber of different theories about the evolution of the Arabs tag. The most popular being that in winter 1960/61 the grounds in Scotland were so frozen no football could take place, however United placed a layer of sand over the playing surface which allowed matches to be played (apparently the first in the UK), before undersoil heating was laid in the early 1990's.

The other main theory is that in the mid 1950's a travelling circus had docked in Dundee and was unable to provide suitable facilities for the animals, so the camels and other beasties were allowed to use the park after a suitable covering of sand had been done.

The third main theory is that someone decided in the 1940/41 season that Aberdonian supporters would use the as yet uninvented internet to ask such questions, thus allowing the legend that is Tannadice to go further.

Whatever the reason is started it is a tag which has allowed a great deal of friendship to exist with other supporters and a starting point for friendly banter. United supporters enjoy going to and are enjoyed all over the world, except at Dens and Pittodrie stadiums. By being a little different and wearing headscarfs, it sets us apart as a breed.
