Scholes proud to join the 600 club Paul Scholes has admitted he is getting close to calling time on his illustrious playing career after the reaching the landmark of 600 appearances for Manchester United in last night’s 2-0 victory against Portsmouth at Old Trafford. The 34-year-old said: “Part of me will be sad to finish. I can’t say I can’t wait to finish but I am looking forward to finishing and everything that goes with it. “The only thing I will definitely miss is the football. The general life of a footballer I will not miss at all. People are just so invasive aren’t they? “They are all wanting to know what you have been doing and what you are going to do. I’m sure I will go and watch United. My lad Owen is absolutely made on Man United.” Portsmouth boss Paul Hart paid his own tribute to Scholes after his side’s 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford, saying: “I was happy to set the disappointment of defeat aside when asked about Scholes. “It's not difficult for me talk about an opposition player in this instance because I use him as an example to every player I deal with, young and old. "I tell kids to look at how he doesn't take liberties with the ball. Everything looks pretty perfect to me." |

Paul Scholes scores goals !!!!!! 600up . . Yet another reason why A.F. is the best football manager in worldwide football ! Apart from mr one man money making machine (Beckham) Not many true footballers want to leave M.U. There are a few other managers who are getting there now with the attitude of mix and match (i.e vast understanding of the game and youngsters with fire in there belly). A.F sticks with playing kids even though it may not be what the fans want...........it seams to pay off for ,M.U. in the end Yes i am a Manc ...............but a blue one ! |

Moved this one to the Sports Bar gents, or we'll have the ladies complaining! Quite a big fan of Mr Scholes myself, one of the few modern players who seems to shun the limelight and just get on with playing his football. Scored far too many goals agaisnt us for my liking though! |

We played Man United the other week. We lost1-2 Rooney impressed but he was playing out wide. Scholes bossed the game and seemed able to make 2 yards for himself whenever he wanted. England miss him, I wish he would change his mind. He will be remembered as one of United's all time greats. Gary |
