Hi to anyone in the know I am considering replacing my 9 year old desktop with a new laptop, I have hundreds of digital photos on Picassa 3. Is it possible for me to transfer those pictures and any other data from my PC to a laptop via a USB lead? If so could you give the best procedure, if not could you please advise me how this can be done. Many thanks in advance |

Supposedly, there will be an instruction manual. But there will be loads of online resources. Why not backup first onto an external drive. |

Depending how many their are you could transfer them to a USB stick then put them on the laptop. Better still buy an external hard drive and keep all you important information on that, so if a machine fails you have it safe else where. Contact me if you need help. Paul |

By far the easiest way of doing this is to connect both machines to your router and transfer the files over the network. Another possibility is to use a "bridged usb to usb cable" (google it for info) |

When I bought a new computer from SOS computers, all the data was transferred to the new laptop by them. I realise you may be getting a new laptop online though. As far as I am aware, Picasa just acts as a mirror and shows whatever is on your computer. It is the computer picture files that need transferring. Good luck. Trev.. |

Hi all, thanks for the replies I think I will purchase a portable hard drive and also use that as a back up. |
