Post subject:  Desktop computer problem

Hi all,
I'm having a problem with my old desktop, I really don't know much about them, only that it runs on X.P. Professional, it's one that I had built for me about 10 years ago, and it only has a small memory, so I'm reluctant to get it repaired as the usual starting fee is around 50 Euros, and it's just not worth it, I could use that towards a Tablet or something.

So, anyway here goes, I'll try to explain what's happened the best I can, any help would be greatly appreciated.
I turned the computer on a day or two ago and all I got was a black screen with a lot of writing on it saying things like Windows will start normally in 30 seconds, then it counts down to zero, then I get a flash for a second of the Windows symbol, then back to the above.
It says I can press F2 which Iv'e tried, this takes me to a blue screen which says select boot device, I follow all instruction and it takes me back to the black screen as above again.
Because I had this computer built I never had a recovery disc, and although I made one it doesn't work, so what do I do guys bin it?
Does any of this make any sense I hope so, as any help would be very appreciated.

That sound like a very ill PC. Probably hardware problem somewhere. It's never good if you can't get to Windows (operating system).

Hopefully you've got everything back up. If not it may be worth taking somewhere and see if you can get your files off.
I would probably thinking about a new computer in whatever form you've decided.
