Weve decided to get a wireless broadband system on a small complex for 8-10 units.

Which system is cheapest to set up and run?
Which one is easiest to maintain and link to?
Which is easiest to run?
Who provides best back up service?

cheers,
tanny

We use a wireless broadband system as we don't have a Cyta line. We use Digby at Holitec and he has given us an excellent service. His number is 26821412.

Hi Tanny,

Sorry, I was going to answer this post this morning when I got a call to get in to work ASAP as a colleague had called in sick. Apologies for the delay in answering.

The signal we get is from Kathikas, but there are other transmitters I believe. We paid £300 for our receiver and pay £23 per month for the rental I think.

The costs may differ slightly for different areas. Best to ask Digby.

Hi Tanny,

The receiver unit costs £300, but is a commercial unit that will easily support a complete office block, so 8-10 units is not a problem. You will need a 16 port switch, and somewhere to site the unit/switch. Alternatively, it may be possible to use homeplugs in each apartment (about £25 each) via the mains, but they do not like different phases.
as for areas covered, most of paphos, from Konia/Armou - Sea Caves/Peyia, Kamares, Tala, Tsada, Up to Kathikas, Ineia (Narnia), Droushia, Kirtou Terra, Neo Chorio, Polis, Latsi, Kinousa, Petristrona, Simou, Drymou, Skouli, Goudi, Giolou, Milou, Theletra, Argaka, now Armageti.

I hope this helps,

Digby

Just an unsolicited bit of support for Digby/Holitec...

I know three people who use his services (from Ineia, Peristerona, and Steni) are are very happy with the service and with Digby himself.
Also, I've met him and found him a most agreeable chap (bumped into him in PaphosComputers in Kissonerga).
