We have 3 mobile phones, 2 on MTN and 1 on CYTA.
On the South side we can use them to call each other just by dialling the number, but
NO country code (00357) required. Although it still works if the country code is used.
Driving over to the North this morning I took one phone with me.
I was in Nicosia (N) and had no signal on it.
I was able to switch (manually) to a TRNC network and call the other phones, but only using
the 00357 prefix. Cost €1.50 per minute approx. I was not able to call just using the phone number, had to insert the country code prefix.
So what has changed?
To me this CMB should work so that with a South Cyprus phone I can call ANY other phone (N or S) without the use of country codes (00357, 0090).
Not impressed - or am I missing something? This CMB has failed to build my "confidence".

maybe you should have used 'epic' instead of MTN.

Of course there is an improvement, using a roaming is an improvement, maybe in 10 years there may be direct dial, but the two systems ar totally different in structure so will need a long time to harmonise.

You are right, MTN is now called Epic.
The whole thing is a dead loss.
What I was hoping for, and what the reports on what was being discussed suggested,
was where I could use any Cyprus phone to call any other Cyprus phone, North or South,
without the use of Country codes (the TRNC doesn't have a country code so uses the Turkey country code) and without roaming charges. This should be possible technically as the numbering ranges North and South do not overlap.
I think your estimate of 10 years is probably about right.

P.S. Cannot seem to be able to activate roaming on either of our Epic phones.
Tried dialling *136# but I get no response.
