You see last year, we didn't have this cold a weather but we did get a years worth of rain in a matter of days/week in October 06, which we didn't this year :(

So if anyone says the weather in Cypurs is predictable, I think 'd have to disagree with them somewhat :lol: :lol:

The sun today say Cyprus is amongest the warmest places on earth so why do expat pensioners get winter fuel payments.

we have heating which we use in evenings and mornings but it is chilly no doubt at the moment. Not sure why those living at certain altitudes should get benefits that others don't, unless of course in the summer an equivalent sum was given to those below 600m to help deal with the electric bill after air-con has been hammering !

Pete - it was wet in Oct'06 but not quite a years worth !

I know that, it just sounded better than 6 weeks 5 days worth that's all :lol: :wink:

The reason we get the heating allowance above 600m is because we'd bloody freeze else :D
Its quite ironic really, the hottest day this summer (39c) & the electricity goes off, so we're left without any fans or a/c & yesterday which was probably one of the coldest day this year (1c), we lose the power again, so no rads or a/c split units to keep us warm :roll:
Maybe that's why we get the money & you don't, so we're able to buy extra wood for our fires, which you really don't need during the winter & extra batteries for our fans in the summer, because the way I see it, anyone living in lower land don't get many power cuts :wink: :wink: :D

Its cold here too hope things warm up for you in a few days
and it will still be cold when you get back to scotland but you can turn the Ch up full. :D

Ex UK pensioners (of which I am one :roll: ) get the UK Heating allowance only if you were eligible and drew it in UK before emigrating to Cyprus. ie over UK pensionable age. :lol: (Or other eligible country's)

I had electric underfloor heating installed on build (Wish I could have had Insulation built in as well ) :evil:

Lovely and warm but it's costing "arm & a leg in leccy" :roll:

Still "no pockets in shrouds" so can't take it with me. :)

Might take a few travellers cheques just in case :lol:

Hi Yummy Mummy,

OK will do it's 7.8C here tonight at sea level but forecast to start warming up towards the weekend. Daytime only got to 11C :(

Plus just had power cut for hour and half tonight :roll:

and before you say it, I did pay my leccy bill :wink:

We have split units in our villa but only used it twice on heat setting as it costs a fortune, especially if you have an open plan living area as it takes forever to warm up :roll:

You wouldn't have that nice rug in front of our log burner if Phil was around. When I was in hospital he managed to burn our little rug, and singe my nice rug - even though I keep it a decent distance from the fire.

He is a bit of a pyromaniac. He gets good fires going, but I don't know how he has managed not to burn the house down. :roll:

The big dog is a she CF, can't you see that!

The fire is gas with log effect. Very very warm, best buy so far.
