After much deliberation we have decided to put sailcloth on our pergola.

There is a place in Chloraka who will put an Australian material up, and it seems quite good because it won't absorb stains in the same way that sail cloth does. So we are quite taken with the idea. Phil has to treat the wood before we get them in, though.

But before we go ahead, has anyone had sailcloth fitted to a pergola, and does anyone know of anyone who fits it? I guess I am asking for a recommendation before we go ahead and make a final decision.

Our sailcloth on our Pergola over the BBQ has been up for almost 3 years and is now disintegrating and will require to be replaced. Will be very interested in replies as they have to put up with wind, rain, frost and snow up here!

Hi Verity

Can thoroughly recommend George from Shadeports plus http://www.shadeportsplus.com/ He has been in the business for a number of years and you can see some of his work down the Polis road at some establishments. He has also done a lot of work in and around Olympus & Vikla villages.

Thanks Colin. I will investigate. I have seen some of the sailcloth on the Polis road.

I will ask the question about how long it lasts, Ruth. The Australian material is quoted as having a 10 year lifespan.
