Had another one on my nightmares last night - it's one I've been having for years and basically revolves around all my teeth falling out!

It's really vivid, they always start to crumble and then fall out completely, and when I wake up it seems so real I have to spend a couple of minutes tugging on my teeth to check they're all still in place!

Maybe it's a literal thing - I have always been a bit anal about taking good care of my teeth, and have never had so much as a filling, but then again maybe I'm harbouring some deep-seated emotional vulnerability that I'm consciously unaware of??

Any dream analysts out there can put a positive spin on this?? Or other recurring nightmare-ists to make me feel better? :D

Teeth falling out dreams usually represent anxiety about your appearance (since a smile is a huge part of a first impression, and nice teeth is something society values).

This is one of the most common dreams.

I've had that dream Neil, bl**dy awful, especially as I have a fear of the dentist. I get in a state even when its for a check up.

Gotta be honest though, cos I'm so scared that I will lose my teeth I still go for a check up every six months.

Either
it is a real sign of internal subconscious concern for yourself and it partially manifests itself in vivid dreams.
or
Youve subconsciously relocated to Cyprus for the cheap dental treatment in preparation for losing your teeth in your dotage.
or
Your nuts, totally fruitcake, lost the plot and preparing to join Gazza in the que for the porridge pot. Listen to the howls and screams of the asylum, and the gnashing together of all the gums from the toothless inmates.

Sorry mate but its deffinately one of the 3 above. bad news is that when they start to fall out youll dribble incessantly and only manage scramble eggs on for a breakfast.

Now if you want real dreams, heres a selection of dreams that are popular. Remember that most dreams are borne from the aspect that it is an unreasonable or unattainable item.

I used to have a recurring dream where I was sitting on the front step at my parent's house. I would see my Mum/Dad/friend coming down the road and run to greet them. And they would turn into a three pin plug.

It used to terrify me.

Analyse that one.

Dreams that your teeth are falling out are the most common dreams we here at Dream Moods receive. Common dream scenarios include having your teeth crumbling in your hands or your teeth falling out one by one with just a light tap.Such dreams are not only horrifying and shocking, but often leaves the dreamer with a lasting image of the dream. So what does it mean?

One theory is that dreams about your teeth reflect your anxiety about your appearance and how others perceive you. Sadly, we live in a world where good looks are valued highly and your teeth play an important role in conveying that image. Teeth are used in the game of flirtations, whether it be a dazzling and gleaming smile or affectionate necking. These dreams may stem from a fear of your sexual impotence or the consequences of getting old. Teeth are an important feature of our attractiveness and presentation to others. Everybody worries about how they appear to others. Caring about our appearance is natural and healthy.

Another rationalization for these falling teeth dream may be rooted in your fear of being embarrassed or making a fool of yourself in some specific situation. These dreams are an over-exaggeration of your worries and anxiety.

Teeth are used to bite, tear, chew and gnaw. In this regard, teeth represent power. And the loss of teeth in your dream may be from a sense of powerlessness. Are you lacking power in some current situation? Perhaps you are having difficulties expressing yourself or getting your point across. You feel frustrated when your voice is not being heard. You may be experiencing feelings of inferiority and a lack of self-confidence in some situation or relationship in your life. This dream is an indication that you need to be more assertive and believe in the value of your own opinion.

In the latest research, it has been shown that women in menopause have frequent dreams about teeth. This may be related to getting older and/or feeling unattractive and less feminine.

Traditionally, it was thought that dreaming that you did not have teeth, represent malnutrition which may be applicable to some dreamers.

Other Perspectives

A scriptural interpretation for bad or falling teeth indicate that you are putting your faith, trust, and beliefs in what man thinks rather than in the word of God. The bible says that God speaks once, yea twice in a dream or a vision in order to hide pride from us, to keep us back from the pit, to open our ears (spiritually) and to instruct and correct us.

In the Greek culture, when you dream about loose, rotten, or missing teeth, it indicates that a family member or close friend is very sick or even near death.

According to the Chinese, there is a saying that your teeth will fall out if your are telling lies.

It has also been said that if you dream of your teeth falling out, then it symbolizes money. This is based on the old tooth fairy story. If you lose a tooth and leave it under the pillow, a tooth fairy would bring you money.

Just found this on the internet and please starchild NOW CALL ME Graduate Mark  ohhhhh ummmmm I think i like major better

Can anyone remember the Vertigo label for records ? When the record played it spun and looked like a whirlpool.
I get a nightmare where I'm in that whirlpool and I'm sinking fast and I get this quite often and wake up in a sweat shouting.
What's that alll about ?
Gary

Well mines not exactly about teeth but I have a recurrent dream that I'm chewing gum and it gets bigger and bigger and I keep trying to pull it out like unravelling knitting, but it doesn't get any smaller??? Owen has a theory for this one but not one I could post here

The one I have the most is of being on a ship or a boat and large waves keep crashing over and engulfing me, I wake up in such a state :(

What does all this lot mean then?

Karen

I have a really weird recurring one - had it for 15 years on and off.

Cliff Richard lives in a house on a cliff in Devon or Cornwall and the garden stretches all the way down to the sea. The path is a little thing that goes in and out all the way down the cliff under the undergrowth etc. Cliff makes me walk up and down it all day before letting me eat!

Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind Cliff Richard, but I look at him in a different light since these dreams - haven't a clue what it means but I always feel tired when I wake up x

I can't remember the last time I had a nighmare, maybe its down to the fact that I don't let anything bother me, so I am able to sleep soundly at night :D :D

Puts me in mind of the old saying: "If you can keep your head when all around are losing theirs, you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation!"
