Just a reminder to let those of you who didnt know - that its Mothers Day this Sunday 2nd March.

Just rang the florist by my mums and it cost me £26 to send her something - no idea what'll be in them but she said they'll be fab. She was more interested in what life is like over here.
Dont know why I've bothered as I know what my mum will say.

Oh you shouldnt be wasting your money on things like this you silly thing.

Still I've done my bit, posted my card and then I can call her on Sunday for my weekly lecture, I mean update..........

Hi Julie

Posted my mums card this morning, and about to order some roses for her. I use http://www.post-a-rose.com, used them at Christmas and she said they were gorgeous. They come really well packaged, and are hand tied so you literally take them out of the box and put them into a vase. Very easy for her.

I just wanted to catch up on the gossip from my old local area so its probably cost me more for the call  Had a fine old chat to the woman in the shop.

Oh I do miss the company of other scousers at times. Good job I've got Alex isnt it?

Will have a look at that site in a mo Jean, its my mums birthday soon so may go for more flowers. I know, shows a lack of imagination but unless there's a site for 200 gift wrapped fags, Im stuck for ideas :D

If anyone is sending Throntons chocolates via internet - use the promotional code BB18 and get 15% off your purchase.

Sorry but I don't have to worry about missing this day anymore, well not for the last 18 years anyway :(

I use to buy flowers for my ex-wife off my boys, just a little something from them but don't have that to do either :)

I'm lucky this year, my mum as some of you know is still in Australia, so I'll get away it hee hee, and I'll be in UK on Sunday so my two daughters can't say "cards must have got lost in the post mum " and Sunday is my grandaughters first birthday :party

I find Mother's Day really difficult. I see the cards in the shop and wish I had my Mum to buy one for. After six years it is still hard, and I miss her like crazy. I miss her every day, but can live alongside it. But when the adverts for it are around it makes me feel quite melancholy.

Phil sent a text to remind our boys, and Kieran was just writing the card and Nathan was incensed at being reminded cos he said he loves his Mum and would never forget. Ahhh. Bless.

We'll see if they remember to post the cards.

I doubt if my boys will remember - they always seem to forget my birthday in a couple of weeks as well.

That's the lads of today.

By the way I am not sorry for myself, just facing facts, since Steve deliberately forgot Valentines Day, I expect my birthday will be forgotton too.

I have never gone overboard about presents, but I do like a card. I keep cards that have some meaning to them.

I like to send cards with verses that mean something, but I find it difficult to get cards here. I know there are card shops, but the choice isn't always there, and I can't always get to them when I need to.

Oh, and I wouldn't thank anyone for bringing me cut flowers, either. By that I mean that I would thank them, but I don't like them. Flowers are always better growing in the ground.

So my boys don't send me flowers.

I don't want them for my funeral either. Not that I am planning one in the near future. Everyone can spend the money on their favourite tipple and celebrate my life before I am burned up and scattered to the four winds.

Cheerful soul, that I am today.

Anyway, I have gone off topic so I am telling myself off.

Did I say no presents? Well, I don't mind them if you insist.

Sorry, Marj. My fault. I do go off on a tangent sometimes.

Have a lovely Mothering Sunday.

I sometimes use http://www.moonpig.com You can have the cards delivered to you (if you order them in time) so that you can write your own sentiments before mailing them on to your loved ones.

It was great for me when I was off my feet last year x

Dawn, I always use Moonpig for cards at home, but never for my kids. I like something more special for my boys. Soft that I am.

I got a surprise text from my eldest - asking for my address again. Text it back (at least the ninth time) saying what have you forgotton mother's day again, but if he has remembered my birthday then that will be a miracle.

For those mothers in Cyprus who are "living like the locals", if nothing happens this Sunday, don't worry ! "Mothers Day" in Cyprus is second Sunday in May ...... as opposed to the UK "Mothering Sunday" :)

So we get two Mother's Days? Bonus. I will mention this to Phil and see him turn puce. So that is Mother's Day 1 in March, my birthday in April, and Mother's Day 2 in May.

Two cards arrived in the post yesterday, so I am smiley as they remembered the day AND that they had to post early enough to get the cards here. :D

I found it very hard the first Mother's Day in Cyprus without being with my children. Even though they were on the phone and flowers and cards etc were received.

Gotta admit it's still not that easy.

I don't find it hard being here on Mother's Day with the boys being in the UK. I find it hard being here on their birthdays - that is when I would like to see them. But I think all these special days can have different meanings for different people and make us feel a bit melancholy.

But what I do find hard is not having my Mum. I know we all have to leave this life, but it is natural to think about her on the day that is named after what she stood for.

What is making me smile is Amanda (Paphosgirl) who will be having her very first Mother's Day. Hope Rob remembers to get her a card on behalf of baby James.

Verity - I know how you feel - I'm the same on Fathers day - its like a big empty space. At least your boys got it together.

My youngest got me a gorgeous plant on the way home from footy - I'm excitedly waiting the next present - a big hug coming into the airport at 9.15pm - I've got ants in my pants waiting for tonight :monkey

Hope you all have a good one.
