Our wonderful friends at BT have decided in their wisdom to close their yahoo mail servers to other email providers. I previously sent mail via my which.net account and recd via bt. They have caused thousands of users millions of hours of hassle trying to make other arrangements, what a wonderfully accommodating company they are.

Fortunately I found a fix OK that took ages to sort, but many wont be as lucky, meaning they will have to dump their old accounts and use only bt, or a webmail service.

Sounds a bit odd mate, have you been informed by BT that they were going to do that or has it just happened :?

Could be a virus in their system that's crashed it or some tech guys messed up big time

If you were informed, then its pretty shocking that they didn't let you know in advance, so you'd have time to re-arrange everything

NO, zero notice, zeo customer service, they messd with settings that meant that everybody would have to mess with their own Outlooks. BT pulled the plug by effectively altering the settings to make it impossible for Outlook to accept WhichOnline through Outlook and have to be amended to go through yahoo.com. Typical of them doing it on an Easter Bank Holiday weekend. Is this why we trust our Big companies so much??
Also the customer services from whichonline (the consumer people) has been poor, very poor.

Fortunately a member on one of the which forums knows how to get through it, sadly most which members do not use the forums so they will be floundering for ages trying to get help. And casual users will maybe take a week or more before discovering what has gone wrong.

Does not inspire me with confidence!!

So it could be a techie issue, not a company one then :?

If you know how to get round it, why not tell people yourself :? You'll be helping lots of people out I bet :D

Pete, Twas a corporate manoever by BT, who have done similar in the past to some of the "smaller players". The rearrangement took me ages and I will happilypoint others to the repair, but for reasons of not wanting to be held responsible for messing up peoples machines (as I am a net neanderthal) I will leave repairs to techy forim people and the customer service functions of the companies involved. Also with so many different versions of outlook/express etc, I wouldnt know ehre to start.

Signed by the net neanderthal
