There is a Cyprus lifestyle photographic competition just launched by Alexander Ruddick, (international photographer) and supported by Omega tv and Paphos news. I have noticed there are some good photographers on this forum.
The competition is in three Categories:

1) The real Cyprus - here they are looking for images of Cyprus as seen thru the eyes of the photographer. It can be landscape, lifestyle, street or even Cypriot cat.

2) Cypriot people - for this category they are looking for images of the Cypriot people within their natural enviroment be it village, fields or sea.

3) Abstract images - anything creative is allowed.

The competition is aimed at the amateur photographer and is open to all. Up to three photographs are allowed per entry and must be on CD. The size requested is 6x8.

Winners must be available for the prize giving ceremony and the closing date is the 1st June 2008.

Anyone wishing for further info just pm me.

Jan :) :)

The prizes arent really up to much.
What happens to the pictures after the competition finishes?

Usually in these sort of competitions the prize is not important its the chase that counts. Plus it gets people out and about and aware of their enviroment, it is also open to children. Photos are returned if specifically requested.

Hi Jan,

I suppose you're right in that the prize isn't the reason for doing it but normally its the prize that make more people interested

Not like anyone will want to do it for free is it :?

I carry my camera with me all the time :o its on my mobile phone

Maybe we should run some competitions like that :D :D

Hi Duchess

You still havent really answered my question regarding what happens to the pictures after the contest.
If people dont specifically ask for the pictures back.
Sometimes the pictures entered into competitions are kept and used for calendars, books or magazines.
