I think you have got your quote mixed up with your answer Neil. I don't think that your cream will help Gary to like the new format somehow.

Amused me, though.

So it is! I can see what you did now. :D An easy mistake.

Someone is changing all the colours on the site. I thought I was seeing things, but the names keep changing from green, to red, to blue. I may go to bed soon and see what changes have been made tomorrow. :D

And I know I haven't been at the magic mushrooms.

Hi Lloyd,

Can I ask what it is you don't like about the new forum :? Is it the styling, the colour scheme, the functionality, etc :!:

Gary,

Have you tried one of the other style formats that you can use in your profile :?

The subsilver2 is very similar to the old style forum, so that might suit you :D

It's just not user friendly. It is not easy on the eye. If any of you wanted to get rid of me then this is a good way of achieving that.
It's a massive thumbs down from me and like has already been said if it's not broke.......

I like this new forum style.

I like the font style and the text colour option.

My favourite colour.

Well done admin!

Hi Pete, as DP says, it's just not easy on the eye, esp. the Day 2 Day Forum list of topics. Having changed to sub silver 2 things are a lot better and the names and avatars have gone back over to the LH side,n from the right. But newbies wouldn't think to do that, just like I didn't, until I read about others changing to sub silver 2. I think you should set the default up to sub silver 2. Only thing I do like is having more smilies on the LH side. Lloyd

I've changed to subsilver as well but mainly because the other forums that I am a member of have their Authors on the left and It's easier if they are all the same.

I prefer the new style in subsilver, the prosilver was giving me a headache yesterday morning after using it after a few minutes.

I like the various options on the new version also, have even spent the time putting an avatar on (don't know if that is a good thing or not!!)

Being advised to put a signature on now :!:

Think the colour palette maybe too handy for some people though

The smilies might be a bit too handy also :congrats

Hi Brian,

At least you've given it a go & you seems to like it by your last post

The colour pallet will make a lot of posts alot brighter too

Best thing to do is play about with your profile settings, then you'll see the difference :D

Yakflyer, how did you manage to get the avatars on the left instead of the right? I have spent ages looking at the user control panel did you press subsilver, I did that yesterday and nothing happened.

Hi Helen,

I've changed the default style to 'subsilver2' now, so you should have your avatar on the left again :?

In your User Control Panel, go to the Board Settings on the left hand side & once you select 'subsilver' from the drop down box, click submit at the bottom of the page :D

Then when you click the Board Index at the top left, you should have the forum in 'subsilver2' style :D

I actually like this now - it's definitely grown on me, and from other forums I have seen, this is definitely different from the rest, or maybe the word I should use is "unique" - just like us :D  :D

Thankyou Jean,
I'm glad you're starting to like it, it has quite a few 'unique' qualities now, especially as you're now able to send a pm to more than one person at a time, you can add those members you contact the most to your 'friends' list, and if you add anyone to your 'foe's' list, you won't receive anything from them either or so I believe, but as its all new to me too, I'm still getting use to its 'unique' features myself

Being able to change your textas your type is alsoa nifty feature too

I forgot to mention also......

If you're typing a reply to a post & while you've been typing away, (as I know some aren't as fast as other), if someone has replied to the post you're replying too, it lets you know before you post your reply just incase you want to change it due to the added posts first

Now how bloody clever is that

Top

PostPosted: Sun Mar 16, 2008 4:22 pm
Also......

In the old forum, when you were typing a pm & you'd forgotten what the other person had written (well I do), you had o backpage to see it again....

On here you don't have to, as it is written below in a scroll, just like a post is.... another great functionality me thinks

That happened to me yesterday, Pete - I typed a reply, pressed submit and couldn't understand why it hadn't taken me back to the post - then I realised what was happening, so could amend my post before re-submitting it. Cool

HI Frank
Me too, I keep having to log on and its a bummer. I am also still losing posts. I don't know if it is only me. I posted today and it still hasn't shown up. Don't want to repost it though in case it does show up and then I have to log in again to delete it.

I am getting a little more used to the new site though I need to give it a couple of days before I revote in total favour.

But I am warming slowly.

I am glad that I have sorted out the control panel a little more.
I found a button at the top of the site it is a little 'A' for font size but when I click it nothing happens so maybe there are some teething problems yet to iron out. Like getting our banners on the site.
Admin, I do think we should have been advised especially if the sponsors just see their banners disappear with no warning.
This isn't a moan but how long before they are back?

That happened to me too Jean and it was useful because my reply could have been inappropriate if I hadn't read the other response. Saves using the edit thing when you jump the gun on a topic.

Still not decided but I do like the colour feature as this is my favourite! 8)
Just a thought though Pete, I seem to have to click more than once on the quote for it to change to the reply screen, is it meant to be a double click because I though the old one was a single click??

Hi Helen, I thought the same then (with my glasses on) I spotted the little up and down arrows either side of the 'A', change up or down as required. HTH

Yep, I saw those too but they didn't work when I last tried it. It would be helpful for me as I am as blind as a bat without my reading specs.

Hi Helen,

I believe Neil as sent an email to Andrew with regards to the Sponsors Banner, so I hope you understand we will suffer little glitches & teething problems as we embed all the changes :D

On hindsight we should have contacted all our members & advertisers to inform them of our upgrade but as we wanted to give our members a surprise, we didn't think it would have been a good idea, as it would have gotten out & spoiled the surprise :o but it looks like we were wrong  so I apologise to all our members/advertisers/sponsors for not letting you know in advance

As for your posts which seem to be vanishing, I have no explanation, so if you can run me through what it is you're doing before you post goes, I'll try my best to find out what the problem is :D

If anyone else is having any problems, please let me know & I'll do my best to fix them asap :!:

Oh yeah, guest's should now be able to view & read the forums as I've changed the permissions :D let me know if any further problems arise :D

Pete,

Just one teeny weeny critisism:

When you preview a post before submitting it, it is only on screen for two or three seconds.

Would it be possible for you to extend the preview time please?

Thank you, :D
