Well, those who know me would say I was already there!

I got on the internet this morning and managed to look at about two posts when it went down. It has been off all day, and if I was fit I could have gone for a long walk with Jessie, or taken myself down to Polis or Pafos. Or I would have been at work and it wouldn't have mattered. I walked down to a neighbours for coffee and they kindly brought me back up the hill.

I have been going stir crazy. And now that it is back on it is clashing with Jeremy Kyle! Is there no justice? :lol: :lol: :lol:

At the moment my internet connection is a bit delicate, but it is a short term problem. Doncha just lurve teknoligy?

How did we manage before PC's and mobile phones?

I hate being without it, Trish. It is like I am disconnected from the outside world.

The forums are fun, but the main thing is the feeling that I am disconnected from my kids and family.

I wouldn't know what it was like before PC's as I had my first one at 14 & used them in school, it was the Apple II pc back then, green screen & 1mb HDD, no internet, no forums, no chat rooms, just you & a box to type code into to make silly things happen on the screen :lol:

:lol: I do like to watch the occasional episode of Jeremy Kyle - I find it's brilliant for engendering a certain feeling of superiority!

Think that's probably one of the main reasons people like programs like that - helps you realise there's always someone less fortunate (same reason the likes of Eastenders stay popular by churning out the most miserable plot lines imaginable!)

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Axel - I can go placidly most days. But losing my internet when I am on enforced "relaxation" is doing my head in.

I am off to Polis shortly and shall wander around Paps. At least it is out of the house.

It was Captain Fantastic's posting re a feeling of superiority which made me think of Desiderata, it's true, if you compare yourself to others, there will always be people you think are "greater and lesser", but I guess it's the human condition !!!!

I guess you are right. I went through my early life feeling that I wasn't good enough as a daughter, a friend, a person - for many reasons.

But now I don't feel that anyone is better than me. Conversely I don't feel better than anyone else. I just work on feeling comfortable in my own skin. Others can work out their own s**t.

Anyway, I am feeling hormonal, caged and frustrated today so am off out into the sunshine.

Will be back later - if the gremlins don't eat my internet connection. Poor Digby - he thinks I have a personal hotline to him. :lol:
