I took our RAV down to Steve's garage in Polis this morning as he was getting a couple of tyres changed on the back wheels. He took it off to the place he uses and then came back full of apologies. The guy was about to put the wrong size tyres on. Steve pointed this out and the response was "they won't know". Steve said that he would know.

The guy knew what size tyres were required. Why do they do this sort of thing? It makes me wary about getting tyres changed now as I wouldn't have a clue as to the correct sizes or whether they had put the right ones on or not.

Surely it alters the performance of the car, plus the safety aspects of driving with different sized tyres. If we needed to put the spare on a back wheel it would be a different size to the other back one.

Verity,

You need to check your owners manual & it tell you what size tyres you have on your vehicle, then check the tyre side wall to verify this, if different, take them back & make sure they put the right one's on :D

Pete,

How many of us if you buy an imported Japanese vehicle here have owner manuals.

I know we don't and we can't even work out how to tune the radio in. :doh

Oh Neil ,

you actually would not notice anything while driving , but what would be happening is that the differential would be working hard because it would assume the car was going round a corner , this will generate a lot of heat , causing the oil to get thin , possible damage to bearings and a funny smell .
