I lived in Emba, but don't have school aged children any more. Are you talking about the primary school or the secondary one?

I have a friend whose son goes to the primary one, but as she is married to a Cypriot her son speaks Greek so her experience will be different to that of a full British family.

Emba is quite large and has a fairly big Brit population so maybe someone may be looking in on this question who can provide an answer.

My daughter has friends in Emba school, ( english/cypriot) they seem to enjoy it, as far as school goes !!

She also has English friends at the school, who hate it unfortunately, and one is been bullied quite badly even by the boys.

From what I can gather the british population of the school is rising and rather from everyone mixing together, a them and us scenario has risen.

It would be nice if someone has children there that can advise you, and you can get the facts from the horses mouth.

I know when our children were in greek school, we had fully intended that when they got to secondary age we were going to put them in the ISOP, and not continue with the greek education system, lots of Cypriots do this also.

I think you really need to visit the schools personally, to make your decision. I have heard Emba primary is very good, but have no first hand knowledge.

We lived in Emba whilst in Cyprus and were fully intending to send our children to Primary school there. We did visit and we were impressed by what we saw and the teaching staff. However, we decided to return to the Uk. I was considering returning to Cyprus with the children (i'm not now) and as they are still young i would have enrolled them there.

I'd definitely make contact with them and see if you can go and look around. They were most happy for us to do that.

You need to contact the Pafos District Education Office in Pafos to find out about enrolment at any of the state schools in Pafos, i believe.

Tel no 00357 26 804512. The man i spoke to was very, very helpful. Worth giving them a call to find out more info.

Good luck .

Julie just remember the Greek Orthodox Easter is in April so the schools might be closed.

There is mixed feelings I think regarding local schools, some children get on famously and others do not so maybe worth while trying a local school and if your child(ren) do not get on then look at one of the private ones if you can afford it.

When we looked around the greek schools, we asked if we could speak to some of the english children in the years our children would be going in. Tala school was happy to do this and it was good to get the point of view of the children already at the school.

It also gave our children a poin of contact for when they started.
