Post subject: | Coming to our apartment for the first time! |
Hello everyone My first post, have been reading for a few days and love the forum already, everyone seems really friendly. We bought a small apartment in Kato Paphos in September and are coming over for the first time on March 5th (without our 2 girls), we have lots to do ie decorating and bit of furniture to buy, but we are both really excited about it. If anyone has any tips or advice I would really appreciate it, I worry that we wont have long enough to do everything in a week! Also what will the weather be like by then? Other than decorating clothes we dont know what to pack!! Looking forward to hearing from you. Julie |

Hi Julie Welcome to paphos People, where we are all a friendly bunch. Brings clothes with you that you can wear in layers, then when the sun shines, you can strip off. Then when its a bit chilly you can put them on again. Write a list before you come here, of what you want to do in that week and what you need to buy. |

Hi Julie, welcome to the forum. You mentioned buying items for your apartment. If buying furniture you may run into the same problem my friends had in their 2 week visit. A lot of the shops couldn't quote delivery of less than a few weeks or more, so they left a key with us to let delivery men in. You might need to think about this if you have a friend or neighbour handy. Otherwise, prices vary a lot from place to place so be sure and ask here for any advice on where to go (shopping that is)! |

Welcome Julie. Best towels and bedding you can buy in Paphos is Twosox shop. J if only I had the money, think I would half empty your shop with those beautiful quilts/comforters you have and the curtains - scrumptious. Wait until I get a job, but there again I still have over 50 towels in one of the high cupboards. It was only when we were leaving the UK that I found I had a towel fetish - over 100 of them as I just can't resist buying towels. |

I have just come from there If you go across the debenhams round about, towards yeris-kipper (airport road) then turn right at the next lights, down that road until it starts going down-hill to the right ,, the shop is on the laft side of the road .. |

Thanks to everone for making me so welcome, and to Karen for introducing me to the site! Our only large(ish) purchase is a sofa bed (pref in leather), and we have been told of a place that sells last years Argos furniture, have emailed them direct but havent heard anything yet! Does anyone know of any other furniture stores nearby and also where do we buy paint from? Julie |
Author: | karen [ Tue Feb 19, 2008 12:35 am ] |
Post subject: | |
Julie There are loads of furniture stores on Polis Road and you can get paint from Homecentre (behind Debenhams) and of course the Dulux shop. You can also get paint at G & P opposite my shop in Chlorakas and they can mix up colours, according to Owen the prices are reasonable also. Karen |

Remember the furnishing of our villa well. We did get some bargains, tv from Scandia, £299 for a Sony 32 inch, UK price£499 in Currys. Beds three piece suite, dining room suite all bought at Bella Casa on the Polis Road. Negotiate a good discount. I would certainly thing of using IKEA if furnishing a house today. Certainly for beds, as the beds in Cyprus are expensive. There are people who will pick up from IKEA and assemble your furniture for you. Also settees. |

It can be done in a week I arrived on a saturday evening, did a recce on sunday as all the shops were closed, but i found all the shops i wanted to visit Monday we set off early, hit furniture shops , superhome, and supermarkets and Winters for garden furniture. Sofas were delivered on tuesday, sunbeds on wednesday, our return flight was wednesday night. (already had beds) We struggled with curtains, but did manage to get some. And you could try twosox shop, or the Curtain workshop, in chicken street, kato Paphos. Do make a list and shop till you drop. Tiring, but great fun. |

Indeed ! Ah well, I see Steptoes has actually been mentioned already. My fault for skimming over the posts.. I found them great and very quick when we came for a week to furnish our apartment in Kato Paphos in January. ps. I'm new to the forum. It's great and very informative. |

Welcome Willis. Julie, welcome also. You mentioned emails. Cypriot businesses aren't always very good at using emails as a means of correspondence. If they have a fax machine they seem to respond to faxes much quicker. Enjoy sorting out your apartment. Verity. |
