I dont really understand why this thread has been moved to Daily Chat.. Is this a new procedure, that threads with specific topics are moved to the daily chat general thread so we all have to now go into Daily Chat to trawl through that, to see if anything we are interested in is now among the posts there?? Is this normal? I dont usually go into Daily Chat. |

I really don't understand how or why that is daily chat. Brian and others are specifically organising a day on the beach. It's not just daily chat. Please move it back to it's own thread. Thanks |

Tut tut tut Neil The next thing you will be doing is removing any criticism of Gordon Brown, reference to twin Cabs, swimming pools, bread machines, & speaking Greek to separate threads , that no-one can find. This space deliberately left blank for administration comment |

Sorry I have to say my bit too Seems there are a lot of threads on the main board at present, including snow on mountains, flights booked, cats having babies, gales blowing which could all be classed as daily chat but still remain with their own threads I think it sad to see the Gay May Day moved................this is all being organised to get the people of Paphos together for a fun day on the beach, lots of PP members are attending Come on Neil, lets see it back where it belongs on the main board Thank you |

The reason was given in the thread , After a discussion with martin at the weekend, it is something that we will be doing more of in the future, just to clear up the main day to day forum a bit more .. We dont see it being a problem as you will soon find them in the daily chat, which is what it was intended for in the first place . the thread can continue to be posted on in there .. I hope this clears things up for you |

well with this being the case i can see fewer and fewer people posting on PP due to threads just vanashing in the chat thread. I dont see this as an answer and find it very upsetting that you can just for want of better word just bin a thread to the cataclismic "daily chat" Unhappy and disgruntled Brian |

Post subject: | Re: what happened to my thread "1st Paphos Gay May Day" |
Neil, You must be aware of the number of people who are unhappy at this new policy. Moving event items to a general chat area does not allow anyone to review the specific posts for the event together in one place. You should take on board Brian's comment about fewer people posting as it will be easier to set up the event location on Facebook and simply use PP to advertise it. I don't understand why the number of threads in the main section makes any difference. The used ones remain near the top and the dying ones gradually sink. To have a lot of these put into a chat area will defeat the object of being able to observe and contribute to a thread. Also if we wish to follow a thread we can presently have emails for the thread's new contribution. You cannot do this specifically from the chat area for an absorbed thread, so you will eventually end up with all active members having hundreds of emails for every posting appearing in the chat. I hope you can take on board everyone's comments and think this through again before any further damage is done. Pete |

I can understand the idea of the daily chat thread, to some degree. BUT out every single thread on the broad, why on earth have you moved a thread into that is about a meeting up? If that gets moved you may as well move everything into the daily chat thread. If the beach party is moved, then the ladies coffee mornings should be moved to their as well etc. |

Slow down chaps. I'm sure Neil has no issue with gay people or events. I suspect this was a bit of over-enthusiastic spring cleaning rather than anything. I must admit I am not a regular visitor to Daily Chat either. As to demonstrating with pink cowboy hats, does this mean we have to have chaps around our legs as well? |

We’ve been getting an increasing amount of feedback, both publicly and by PM, about the type of threads on the main forum, and how we apparently can come across as very cliquey and intimidating to new posters in particular, so to counteract that we’re trying to encourage people to use the daily chat thread for the purpose it was originally intended – simply put, if a thread contains a majority of “chatty” posts then we would prefer it to take place in Daily Chat. We don’t want anyone to be put off posting, so no-one needs to worry about changing their posting habits, if we feel something should be moved we’ll do so and explain why at the same time. What this thread does tell us is we’ve no chance of keeping everyone happy, which I have to tell you doesn’t tally well with my almost pathological need to be popular. Whether you agree with individual posts being moved or not, we are committed to giving it a decent shot, so would ask you to stick with it for a decent trial period. You can give us feedback by all means – we’re trying our best to run the forum in a way that best fits the needs of everyone, and it’s not always easy to find a balance, especially as we need to also take into account that the most vocal posters aren’t always in the majority. |

Oh Well, I will probably miss something significant on the Gay Day games thread because I am not trawling through Daily Chat in the hope of finding the odd post which is relevant. Someone PM me please if anything changes haha - that supposes you will all find out whats happening yourselves. PS maybe you ought to put the election thread into Daily Chat as that is happening after the Gay Day games .... PPS can we have a list of other threads that have been put into Daily Chat - just so we know... |

I personally would have thought that a "Comming Events" or "Whats Happening?" catagory or something of that nature would have been a better destination for a thread of this content rather than "Daily Chat" as it seems to me to be an organised event by some of the PP members and is open to all irrespective of 5exual orientation! Perhaps then some of the other threads mentioned could also reside in there. Ladies coffee mornings etc. This would make it easier for those interested in organised events to find their chosen subject/event. Just my opinion |

'We don’t want anyone to be put off posting, so no-one needs to worry about changing their posting habits, if we feel something should be moved we’ll do so and explain why at the same time.' Actually it will change posting habits. Mine included. I know I haven't posted as much recently - that is because I am off line at the hovel for now. However, I just don't really have the time or inclination to trawl through Daily Chat. In fact, I never have. I think that posts that are informative, such as the Gay May Day event should NOT be in Chat. So who decides what goes in Chat and what stays on the main discussion board? And what is the criteria? We need some clarification please. Just looking at the discussion board I can see several that should be booted into this totally nondescript, redundant Chat section. Tiggy |

How many members actually go through the Daily Chat anyway.....Just in case theres anything intresting / informative in there... I never bother At least if something has its own topic on the board its your choice wether you want to read it or not. If one event has been moved to this then shouldnt all events be moved aswel?? |

Post subject: | Re: what happened to my thread "1st Paphos Gay May Day" |
Well, if we are cleaning up and sorting out the threads. How come this seems to be the one and only thread that seems to have been moved? Actually, I do know of another thread being moved, Tanny's "The great pen competition" which has been moved to "Paphos Classifieds : Items for Sale" which is interesting choice as it has nothing to do with selling anything, in fact the opposite. There's still thread like "Snow on the Mountains", "The doom and gloom thread" and "BLOWING A GALE" I think another thing is some of the title of the threads without looking or having read previous threads, you could never tell what they are about. And most of the time the threads look "chatty" because of the title and quite offend are of interesting and would be of value to people. Example "cheer you up a bit!" - this thread is about a Rock gig in Pissouri, I almost didn't look at the thread as I thought it was general chat. But I'm really glad I did as I looking forward to going. If there is any issue with the "Gay" part (which I don't think it is) and possibly people being offended. Then surely the worst thing you can is put the a general thread. As people who may be easily offend would avoid a thread with "gay" in the title but won't avoid "daily chat". I would hope no one would ever be offend from what as been posted so far. I've see things in "Carry On" (PG ratings) films that are closer to the knuckle. Apart from the "management" everyone in this thread has ask for it to be moved back so can we please have it moved back? |

Andy being a grown up i can actually read the title "1st Paphos Gay May Day" so i have the personal choice if i should read this thread and its content. I am a woman with 3 children a husband and grandson. Do i now have to post that i am of mixed race, or that i am of anglo saxon origin to fit in with what people want to be or expect me to be. Any one who knows me knows if they ask me a question then i will answer to the best of my ability although many people may not like my answer i can not please everyone all of the time. So what i am trying to say is everyone has a right to be who they want to be as this to my way of thinking is what we encourage our children as they are growing up. We all have choices. And from my posts would you assume i am gay or straight ? In fact why would it matter to anyone i am still the same person. So what if i had started the thread? Or would me being a woman not make this post offensive as then you would not feel intimidated by my sexuality. I think its great to be having this day and will do my best to get there and shock horror i will even take my children. Alex |

Oh and Andy, exactly what is the ratio of gay to heterosexual posts?. I await your response with great interest. Don't foret though, if you don't like it here, you are free to leave.
