hi paphos people , ive just joined and thank you for accepting me into the online community , we are coming over on the 29th and fingers are crossed regarding this whole " ash " thing , i mean how scary is this ? my main concern other than arriving in one peace ( very nervous of some particles finding their way into our engines ) is what have the people done who were stuck in their hotels and couldnt fly home and had to extend ? does this mean the next arrivals also have to extend?? back log and so on....( if they wasnt removed from the hotels )this whole thing certainly is strange and a first for everyone , trying to get hold of our tour operator today was mission impossible , i suppose they are being inandated with worried customers like myself , so was just wondering if anyone works or knows of anything or anybody thats going on around the hotel scene with regards to pre booked rooms , how bad was it over there etc....i live directly opposite raf mildenhall in suffolk and there certainly wasnt any planes flying today over there , even though the restrictions have been lifted , and looking out of my window here right now , i cant see any contratrail so im hoping it hasnt all exploded again , just cant wait to get there as its our first visit to paphos , dont you just hate it when people say " pathos" !!! anyway , thanks once again and hope to hear from someone soon , byeeeeeeee |

Hi Mikey and welcom to Paphos People (and yes, it annoys me with Pathos as well ). I'm afraid I can't answer your question, but I'm sure someone will be along soon who has been affected by the situation. Look forward to hearing from you again soon. |

Mikey glad you've joined the happy gang. I hope you manage to find out from your tour operator if your " holiday " is going ahead -- I can understand your concern as to the safety -- but I'm sure by the 29th you will be so exited looking forward to your time in Pathos ooops PAPHOS those thoughts will be history. Good Luck Marj |

Hi Mikey, I have friends who checked in today at Paphos airport, Thompson flights to Scotland, but they didn't fly because of the backlog so instead were transfered to Lemesol & are staying on a cruise ship, full board, until a flight is available. I don't know how long this will go on for. Have family going home Sunday 25th Easyjet & I guess Saturday we will find out if they will fly, then 28th Easyjet flight from Luton to Paphos - again, wait & see. Anyone waiting for flights should check in as normal, then if they can't fly they should receive a voucher for accomodation & food. EU only. |

I hear that the hotel owners are not at all happy They are having to put up stranded tourists , most of whom have spent up there money , even the bars cafes etc , dont have any fresh bodys , so the industry is a bit skint , till the fresh tourists arrive ,, |

Was told yesterday that one hotel in Coral Bay wants to charge 10 euros to wash and dry a pair of shorts, they apparently always charge per item, but 10 euros for a pair of shorts, come on, that's excessive for anyone never mind stranded tourists!! |

A friend arrived in Paphos on Easyjet today. It was the flight she had booked months ago and there wasn't any delay. There were empty seats on the flight!!! |

Hi Mikey We were due to fly back from Stansted on Tuesday, Cyprus Airways managed to get us on a flight ex Heathrow yesterday. We were a bit late taking off due to incoming flight delay of 30 mins and of course then we missed our slot but the flight was very very smooth with a great tailwind which meant the actual flight time was 3 hours 45 mins. I was a little nervous of the whole ash situation and the effect it could have on the engine but we are back safe and sound. Have a great time in PATHOS Maggi |
