I can't tell you all how excited I am. I have been jumping up and down for about an hour now. Now the fun starts - organising it all. I am out on 15th March anyway, so it will have to turn into a house-hunting trip and not a holiday!!!!!

Oh Molly, you have to get that back sorted out so we can meet up when I am over (only 24 days now  ).

Have just booked our ONE WAY (did I just say that? Well I can say it again), yes ONE WAY flights for the 14th May. won't be missing too many Taverna Club dates after all

Author:  Candy [ Thu Feb 21, 2008 9:54 am ]
Post subject:

That's great Tina, it does feel weird when you book that one way.

To be truthful I was terrified when I bought our one way wondering had I done the right thing - you know the niggly little doubts, but I love it here (even if I don't have a job and it is a struggle) and we have both decided if it doesn't work out here workwise (haven't got enough savings to last six years before I get my pension) then we would go elsewhere but certainly not back to the UK.

Author:  Tina Mason [ Thu Feb 21, 2008 10:08 am ]
Post subject:

Oh no Trish, don't say that you will go elsewhere - I haven't arrived yet!!!

Dont give up on the job front, something will come up I am sure. It is really hard finding work when you are approaching retirement even in the UK, and I imagine a lot of other places too. Guy was 54 when we moved to Wales (60 six days after we arrive in May) and he hasn't really worked since we have been here. It is a shame that more employers can't see how much more we older, more experienced people have to offer. I would rather employ someone in their 50's than someone in their 20's.

I do hope you find something soon and then you will stay

I am working hard on the fact that Steve is a good DJ - all you people at Jean's party will be able to confirm that after Saturday. He has never really advertised himself so with getting the web site set up we are hoping that it will take off as he has been content working in the hotels but could earn 6 times the amount doing a couple of weddings a week in the spring/summer. That way I won't have to work, but just manage all the bookings

Author:  Tina Mason [ Thu Feb 21, 2008 10:21 am ]
Post subject:

Maybe you will have to give him a push in the right direction then. Every man needs a good woman behind him - to do that pushing!!!

I hope it all works out and Steve gets loads of work. Couldn't you advertise on the forum???

Author:  Candy [ Thu Feb 21, 2008 10:25 am ]
Post subject:

We are advertised, but as I say I am working on it and hopefully our web site if the darn designer gets his finger out gets it up and running then I am looking at a banner as the rates are so good on this site and membership is building that it is the place to get in on the ground floor.
