Its being reported that Alistair Darling has caved in to a demand that the British Taxpayers under-write at least £15 billion of debt held by other Euro Governments as EU Finance Ministers agree an even bigger bail out for the Euro, thanks Gordon for your little leaving present, this is a change from previous reports that the British Gov. would not be be part of this bailout, must have been when Gordon thought he could stay as PM, now looks like he is on his bike he leaves Cameron a little leaving present, typical !!! |

He never had a choice after the goverment gave away Britain's opt-outs (without the promised referendum). It is time Britain quit this unaccountable job club for failed politicians - but it will take war to do so. |

That's how I've just been reading it as well - the EU invoked some emergency clasue which meant here was no veto possible. It seems the UK doesn't have to contribute to the larger 500 Euro bailout fund though - that's just being applied to the nations that asctually use the Euro, as it should be! |

Maggi I doubt that Britain's financial state would allow it to apply to adopt the Euro. If it could, though, it should now be considered as it would place Britain in line for EU bail-out money to protect the Euro. Pete |
