I was over in Edinburgh staying with my sister a couple of years ago while visiting the family and one evening when I was in my bed sleeping, I felt a draught and then the bedroom door closed. I thought nothing of it and then a few seconds later I felt something touch my foot. Again, thought nothing of it, must be the jumper I laid over the bed post.

Here's where it gets spooky, in the morning I realised that there wasn't anything at the bottom of the bed. I told my sister and she went as white as a sheet as she had been experiencing strange noises in the house, things in the bathroom had been moved when no one was in the house (my sister is very fussy, everything in it's place and all that!), and she just felt she was being watched.

I'm not a believer in ghosts or anything.... but something did touch my foot!!!

My sister has since moved!

That's really spooky Yvonne. Thankfully nothing like that has ever happened to me. I would be terrified at the thought.

I am not sure if I believe or not. Guess I would need hard evidence but would be too scared to try and get it

I have had at least two experiences and these are true.

First one was when I worked in Canning Town in an old school caretakers house. There were only two of us in that day when we both heard footsteps upstairs. We both looked at each other and since we were both female decided to go up together. Up we went nothing there, but then we heard the drawer being open in the kitchen, by now we were scared sh..less, but being brave as us women are ran down the stairs - the drawer closed but no one was there and the table had been set for two people. Spooky.

We obviously didn't know what to do, but I said to my colleague don't ask me why but it is an old man and we have nothing to fear. This happened on a number of occasions and others saw it too. Anyway to cut a long story short I was speaking to one of the older local residents one day and she told me that the caretaker of the house hung himself after his wife died as he could not cope without her. He used to set the table everyday for her to come home and cook the dinner.

Experience number two was when I was working in East Ham Town Hall - in the basement are the old police cells where a lot of the files were kept. I had to go down there one day, now don't ask me why but I could go into any of those cells apart from one. If I entered that one apparently I went green and nearly collapsed. Again I had this feeling that something dreadful had happened in the cell and later found out that a prisoner had killed himself in there. This one I never went in again as I couldn't cope with the feeling of fear and hatred so if there was ever a file needed taken out of that cell I had to send someone else to get it.

If you had experienced it then it was more than cold and goose-bumpy Tina I can tell you.

The first one did not bother me because as I say I just got this feeling that there was no danger whatsoever and the old man just wasn't at peace.

The second one really made me ill and I nearly lost my job over it because it was our Social Services files stored in there and since one of my bosses was the solicitor for that section she was not very tolerant until I insisted she came down with me and saw my reaction. Something I could not fake.

My Father in Law was a wonderful man, and I loved him like my own Dad. He had a heart attack and was taken into hospital. He was doing OK and a few days later, my husband had just left him at hospital 200 miles away. It was 3am in the morning and I was woken by the phone tinkling, it happened again a few seconds later and the third time it happened I went to pick up the phone. I was held down by my shoulders and couldn't move. I felt my Father in Law's presence very stronge, and although it only lasted about 1 minute, it was quite scarey. At 3.20am the phone rang properly, it was my husband phoning to say that Dad had died 20 minutes ago. I know he had come to say goodbye.

When my late mother-in-law was taken into hospital for the last time, we couldn't find the back door key and when asked she said it was in a pot in the kitchen. The pot was there, but no key.

We searched the house, but never found it. When she died we cleared the house and redecorated it throughout ready for sale, but still no back door key. As soon as the house was sold, we returned to the house to check all was well before handing the keys to the new buyer.

On the scrubbed mantle shelf in the front room there was a key. On the recently painted window ledge in the back room was another key, and on the kitchen worktop by the back door was a third. All opened the back door! No-one else had a key to the property.

These stories have given me goose bumps too!

On time in my late teens there were four of at a friend's house messing about with a ouiji (sp) board - anyone remember them? I think they were later banned.

We were trying to contact any 'spirits' that may have been around.

It was a calm, quiet summer night, and we had been asking the board questions for a time when a loud crash was heard upstairs.

We were all startled and immediately thought we had gone too far.
We crept upstairs making the boys go first.

The bathroom window was wide open and toiletries scattered over the floor, even though my friend swore that the window was closed and there was not a breath of wind!

It certainly put the wind up us and we didn't dabble any more after that!
