Alex, we've been off most of the day also since late last night. it happens quite regularly at certain times of the year.

Peyia is a large area, so maybe sometimes it is just confined to a selection at a time. :?

Hi Alex (BB),

Hopefully by now you have your water back. Just out of interest, did your washing machine work ok when it was off, as I believe it is fed from the mains water ie incoming cold water?

Also, I am of the understanding, that even when you are cut off, the cold water tank on your roof, in most places over here, holds up to 1000 litres and the hot water tank a further 300 litres. So in theory, dependant upon consumption you should have sufficient for 2-3 days or more if you decide to take measures. Therefore, didn't want you to panic unnecessarily!! :D

Hope this helps in future.

Regards,

Ian :D

Molly, I didn't think you had ever been affected by water cuts when they happen in Pegia. Isn't it the people who live lower down who get hit with this problem usually?

No you don't now Molly. Not by my reckoning, anyway, cos Pegia extends down to Sea Caves now. I am talking about further down the hill.

I am only going on postings on another forum last year and the year before where the complaints of water cuts were from people who lived lower down the hill than you do. That is why I was asking the question.

I am wondering whether there is a difference in where the water supply comes from if you live further down the hill. Or even lower than you.

People that live in Sea Caves do not class themselves as living in Peyia.

We live near the football stadium which is classed as lower Peyia.

Upper Peyia is up near the church and beyond...........

Ah, but Molly. They may not class themselves as being in Pegia, but in Coral Bay one of the banks calls itself the Pegia branch. How confusing is that?

Anyway, do you think it is to do with where they get their water supply? You haven't ever been affected by the cuts, have you? Which is what leads me to make the assumption - which is never a wise thing to do as if you assume you make an butt out of u and me.

The washing machine usually stops working when the mains water is off - that and the drinking water tap are usually the first clues! (ours has been OK so far this year, but was off quite a few times last summer)

If you marshall your remaining resources in the tank you can usually easily get by for a few days once you realise the mains has gone.

CF,

That's why I asked the question as BB had said she had done loads of washing, so was trying see if that was the case :D

Maybe she handwashes

Like we both pointed out, shouldn't be any need to panic, for a few days at least. Maybe just have plenty of bottled water in for drinking and brushing teeth and any other activities requiring fresh water

Regards,

Ian

Hi there ye all it is back on. We have two feeds one for the dishwasher and one for the washer when the water goes off the dishwasher does not work but the washer comes from the tank. I do not hand wash god no with all these in here no way  But thankfully its back so the appliances are now churning happily. We live higher up i would say V just higher up than the school so dont know about the 2 halves water thing Alex x

There is a difference also, if the electric goes off and you have apressurised system.

Our electric went off at a crucial point when my 'colour' needed to be washed off my hair. I had no choice but to wash it off under the 'drinking' water.

Another point is the first year we were here, the water did go off for short periods (yes even in lower Peyia) At one time we were back in the U.K. and when it did come back on it flooded our kitchen. -

Lesson learnt: switch off water in certain parts when vacating house.

Was that the time you were away, Molly? I remember weilding the mop with Ken and Phil. I forgot that was what happened.

It sure was Verity, our first year here. Last year wasn't so bad for us, but I know of some people that live lower down Peyia from us who were suffering a lot with water cuts.

Is that in Lower, Lower Pegia, Molly.

Sorry. Couldn't resist. It's a good job we know one another.

For those of you who don't know - WE KNOW ONE ANOTHER.

It was a bit of a mess, and totally unexpected too. At least you won't get caught out like that again.

Oh! now I can remember feeling smug because of previous reports that water cuts were higher up in Pegia, and we are lower, so now I'm really confused, but maybe it's just that they happen in both places but at different times.

Cheers

Milly

Hi Milly

I dont think there is any rhyme or reason to whereabouts you live at the moment.

I know people that live higher up than me and lower and they dont necessarily get the water cuts at the same time. :? :?
