My sister-in-law, who has a friend who lives in Geroskipou, was telling me that her friend was walking her dog along with a neighbour, when her neighbour's dog collapsed. It had ingested poison. Around 15 minutes later the other dog collapsed. It hadn't ingested poison, but it had inhaled it so it had taken a little longer to get into it's system.

Both dogs were taken to the vet ASAP and are okay. But just thought I would let you know that someone has been putting poison down in Geroskipou. Sorry, don't know which area. I will post it if I find out.

Same here, if I find out who it is, they'll have more to deal with than the police, especially if our Noushka is poisoned

There are quite a few tractors out today, spraying all the weeds etc. so you really do need to be careful when out walking with your pets.

There were five cats poisoned a couple of months ago between Petstop and the butchers - my hubby rescued the one little kitty that was left - shes now the baby of our growing menagery.

Didn't ask my SIL anything yesterday. She has a bug and was busy throwing up all day, so I thought it was inappropriate to do anything other than sympathise. :D But thinking about it I am not sure she would know which area it is anyway as she lives in the UK and has not visited her friend in Geroskipou.

I found this on cyprus mail

Poison, what poison?
By Sir,

On Tuesday, CyBC1 broadcast an item about animal poisoning in Cyprus and how terrible it is. A police spokesman explained there was no great problem as the police had only had 20 cases of the poisoning of pets reported to them from across the island in the last two years. He went on to explain, that if called police will always attend and will take the remains of the poisoned animal away for testing by the relevant competent authority.
What a load of tosh!
Having had five cats belonging to my family and a neighbour’s cat poisoned in three separate incidents last month I can personally vouch for how difficult it is to get local police interested. Only after taking the dead bodies of my cats to the local police station and refusing to leave was a report taken. At this point officers did visit our home and speak to all of our neighbours, most of whom own cats or dogs. Unfortunately no trace of the person responsible has been found.
Our organisation has launched poisonwatch for Limassol based residents and I would urge that they contact us by email or telephone if they suffer the effects of poisoning in their area so we can attempt to warn as many other animal lovers of the risk to their pets in that particular part of Limassol.
Our website contains contact information and details of some immediate first aid steps should you discover your pet in time suffering from the effects of poisoning.
