Am keen to get a Clay Oven for our garden at BBQ [space was made for one] for Kleftiko and Cyprus Potato cooking etc. Does anyone know how much they cost? Also, the ones I have seen are very heavy - can they be built on site? If delivered from makers - a lorry would be unable to get through our gate and it's a long way to the front where the Oven would be situated. Any ideas?
Ruth

Not sure to be honest, but I can't imagine they're too difficult to put together - can't you get Alistair to exercise his DIY skills??

If you do get it sorted, stick us on the guest list for the first try-out - I love a bit of Kleftiko! :D

I think she means the clay Kleftico ovens, not
the concrete BBQ ovens ... but the Igiloo type, with the metal door ..

I think ?

Yeah I know that, I've seen them at the builders yard on the way to the shop, see map below:

You can get them at any builder's merchant, but I guarantee the novelty will soon wear off and it will end up as a cat shelter :catz4 .You might have to hire a fork lift or a crane to put it in place if the location cannot be accessed from the road.

Thanx for that - Yes - a trad oven. No - the novelty won't wear of ['cause Alastair says it will] and No, Alastair won't do DIY unless it's electrical, plumbing, carpentry and Yes it is a long way from road to site so a crane would not be long enough. Ah well - I can dream - or find a local handyman - apart from the man up the road - he's just handy!
