Post subject:  Information required!

I've been asked by a member of PP to raise awareness for the plight of the 17yr old who's family were killed in Paphos, when their vehicle collided with a parked police vehicle on the plantation road between Kissonerga & Coralbay :(

Apparently, the young lad is now homeless & has been given shelter in a studio apartment of a friend, if any members know of more information as to what the stuation is, please let us know so we may help out where we can :(

Thank you in advance for your help in this matter :!:

I have just been talking about this with another PP member and I am not sure whether there is a fund, or whether a fund is going to be started.

I don't know what his family circumstances are. I thought he had grandparents over here, but I might have read that wrong.

Maybe someone else has more info.

As I know the grandparents, I cannot believe that they would leave their grandson on his own, so maybe this is not correct information and for his benefit, maybe we should all allow this family to grieve in peace.

Hi Karen,

If you can find out more information for us, as we wouldn't want to upset anyone with our posting & if required, we will remove this post so as not cause any further grief :!:

If you'd like to pm me directly with said information, I will be happy to help out either way :!:

Further to this, I have it on good information that another site is asking for donations, so if this is incorrect, please let me know :!:

Thanks Karen. You know how the rumour mill runs. No-one on this site wants to get into speculation. It would just be good to know if there is any way we can help, or indeed if any help is needed. It may not be.

Yes, I too have read the 'other forum' thread and offered to help out with furniture, just waiting for clarification of what's needed.

As to his age, 23 or 17? I don't think this matters one bit! Bottom line is, his Mother and step-father have just died and any help and support he can be given I'm sure will be welcome (IMHO)

If any member has a contact to whom we may be able to contact regarding any donations to this lad (sorry I don't know his name yet) then please, on behalf of PP, contact them & let them know our members are also happy to help out where we can :D

I totally agree. As long as he hasn't got family who are looking out for him already who may feel offended at offers of help. The offers of help are based on the supposition that he has no-one to look out for him.

All intentions are good. Sometimes they don't come across that way.

I am glad people are refraining from making assumptions about this tragic situation.

I think there is a lot of sense in what Karenj posted and this should be taken into consideration. I am reading between the lines on her post, and I wonder whether the message is clear?

Verity I agree completely with you and I also think we should consider KarenJ post.

This is the point I was trying to get across on the other forum, rather clumsily I think

Really difficult situation I know everyone wants to do something but sometimes the offers of help can be misconstrued and even unwanted.

These people may just wish to be left alone to grieve in peace.

Totally agree. Grieving takes as long as is necessary. Jamie appears to have people looking out for him and help will be here if and when he needs it. Members of the PP Forum know him personally - and I am sure will ask for help - and support- if required.

Thanks Chez and Ruth. I am glad that I am not the only one who thinks this way.

Chez, I haven't read the other forum, but I am sure you will have come across okay.

My heart goes out to this family. What a terrible loss.

I agree, I think the main thing is for him to know there is support and care when and where needed.

Thank you all for your input on this matter, if when the time come that Jamie needs any help from us, I will be of no doubt that we will stand together & give him as much help as we can but until that time comes, we'll leave Jamie to grieve in peace.

Thank you again :D
