I have just received an e-mail from Sean, to say that he has a problem with his Cypriot partner, and the Village Inn as we know it is to close. I do hope that he can resolve his problems, if not and he opens somewhere else, he wil have our support. |

The way I understand the situation regarding businesses of this sort, they have to have a Cypriot partner for the business to exist. I feel so sorry for Sean & his staff, The Village Inn was a "good place" |

I think it closed on Sunday (sadly). Pre EU you had to have a Cypriot business partner to run a business here. Alan |

In the run up to EU Accession they changed the laws , We set up our 100% Uk resident owned business at least 3 years before they joined the EU .. We were one of the first compamies to do so , even our lawyers at the time , did not know that this was allowed .. but we told them put in the application , they were amazed when the company registration docs arrived .. |

The Village Inn opened August 2006 whilst Cyprus joined EU 1st May 2004 so i would be surprised if this was why they went into business, as much as i like the food in the Village Inn, the last few months have seen it empty countless evenings i've driven past or even walked past to get something more casual in the other bar. not sure why this post is in 'items for sale' |

It's a shame this - I liked the Village Inn, food was always decent and spent many a happy afternoon watching the cricket in there. |

Oh dear John. memory going is it? This link might remind you. http://www.cypruscricket.com/index.asp A shame there is no ground in Paphos, although the Bangladeshi lads were having an informal game opposite the Roman Hotel until recently. |

Might get a few backs up...............but........... ...........at least now the certain member of staff who ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS looked like she was chewing on a 1000 wasps, has a reason to look glum!! Don't get me wrong, I have been there many times and she was always a grouch, whereas the chef and the other staff seemed to be cheery souls! Even a grouch in the winter, when the heat could not be blamed! |

I find this statement very wrong. The fact that you have to write such things is so demoralising for the people involved that it beggars belief from people sitting at home with no business to worry about. The Village Inn was an institution well worthy of credit and maybe a few people were unhappy about certain things but as pointed out the chef and staff were always working hard to make your visit a pleasureable one! When a partnership goes wrong there is nothing the staff can do about it except carry on until the end. Sean ran the Village Inn until he could do no more and I think that credit is due where the Village Inn is concerned as he did an exceptional job under the circumstances. Everybody is entitled to their opinion and this is mine! |

What a pity the guys business has gone, shame for the staff and customers who frequented it. Never went myself but heard generally nice things about the place. |
