Well I went for my interview this morning and the manager informed me that he didn't even realise that I had had a fight with some iron bars - make up hid it all.

Will wait to hear if I have a second interview as I have strong administrative skills, but lacking in Greek. Longest interview I have had here at 45 minutes, plus the manager is really nice.

Anyway got outside and I had a phone call for another interview on Wednesday so something has got to come up since the interviews are getting more and more which is giving me the experience to deal with them and not be quite as nervous as previous ones.

Seriously though I am really grateful for all of your best wishes as I know I won't have to leave here (and I don't want to) because I love this island (warts an all).

Have even typed a nice thank you e-mail, because even though the salary might not be brilliant I feel as though I could work with the team.

When I get that elusive job I will learn Greek (conversation only though because the grammer is a bit too much for me). I know my strengths and weaknesses.

It is back to the drawing board folks - three no's this week, although one of them I definitely wanted a no no as felt I could not work with the slob.

The other two refused because of not being able to speak Greek.

Thanks Ladies, it was one of those days yesterday.

Firstly phoned my mum to be told my sister is going into hospital on my birthday as her MS has affected her eyes and they are nearly closed so she has to have an operation on them.

Then Steve phoned his mum to find out his sister was in hospital for an operation as she shut her hand in a sliding door of a cab, and within a day it had gone numb and septic.

To top the day off had a phone call from our part-time neighbour's to say that unfortunately the brother is buying them out, therefore we will be next door to a holiday home. Something neither of us wanted as had bad experiences from one lot last year who were in the pool every night at midnight until 3am.

Oh Trish, what a day you had. I hope your sister's op goes ok, are they doing it urgently or has she to wait? Steve's sister too, hopefully they've caught the infection early and she'll be on the mend soon.

Disappointing about your neighbours but if the buyer is using it for his holidays as well as letting it he may only let it to friends who hopefully will be considerate to their 'holiday neighbours'! My friend Sharon doesn't let her apartment to anyone she doesn't know which means no-one causes a nuisance, but she doesn't need the income which some people do!

Don't be too disheartened, if they say 'bad things come in threes' then you're due for some good things next!

Trish, don't think I am not sympathetic but if you look for another three bad things to happen, they will.

I have just been told that I have no work to go back to. A cold phone call. Just like that.

So I am not being harsh. I know sh*t happens and it isn't pleasant, but I am not going to stay down about it. My son has just been told he will be made redundant at the end of this month, too. Am I going to wonder what the third thing will be? No. It is all superstition and just serves to keep us feeling sorry for ourselves.

We can choose how we let life affect us. I am choosing not to get down about it, even though I love my job and this may well be the end of me working as a midwife.
