Firstly Tilly watch out for Noushka as there is poison in the area.

This morning started fine just about to sit outside and have my first cup of tea and ciggy when Artemis (collie from across the road) came up to the gate. For some unknown reason (at the time), both of my girls went beserk which made me look as normally they give a quick yap and that is that. Artemis was tremembling from head to foot. Quickly woke Steve up as she is too big for me to lift and we got her in the car, straight up to the vet and thank goodness she is now ok - well as ok as she will be today. We have tied up her and given her water as her owners are at work.

Anyway we have done our good deed and just beware anybody in Geroskipou area that there is poison about.

Thank's for the warning Trish, something needs to be done about this situation, it's getting out of control, especially in built up area's as there is no need for poisons to be used, as its meant for crops only :x

This is someone buying the poison specifically to poison animals in the area & god only know how many have succumb to their blatent attempts & if anything happens to our pup, I won't be held accountable for anything I do to said person

So if anyone in the area know's anything, please contact the police before anyone else loses their beloved pet :x

Artemis is safe at present because we have tied her up in her garden.

On thinking about it, one of the neighbours had been spraying his empty plot (he is waiting for planning permission to build the pool) at the back of his house yesterday which is completely overgrown, so don't know if that was it or not.

Now I will have to go and clean the car out as she did pong a lot when we brought her back from the vet - reaction to the injections I think what with being sick and well you know what (the other end). Poor thing is covered with it but there is no way I am bathing her. So far she has drunk three pints of water so I am hoping they are going to be back soon - normally about 11ish, or she might have an accident or two on their porch. Knowing our luck they won't come back until after the schools close.

Will post a photo of her as she is a beautiful dog.

Here she is lying outside our house (before we had the gates put on). Believe it or not she has bit Steve twice - don't think she will any more though, as we saved her life.

IMHO the owners should be more responsible for their animal, fancy letting it roam free :x anything could have happened & did :x

If they have to work, then they should at least tether the dog in the yard before going to work & make sure it has enough food & drink until they get back  imho I hope it does crap all over their patio, then they will learn to take proper care of the dog, poor thing :(

We did not do it for them but for the dog as she has been a guard dog for me in the past when Steve has been out at work in the evening.

I tried to find their number by asking a few neighbours, one found it and let them know what had happened.

Do you know they weren't even going to come over and thank us for doing it even though we were sitting in the front garden. Although when Steve went over to explain and say that we hadn't paid the vet bill, the wife did thank Steve. Also he had to explain that she was in need of a bath because the ants were crawling all over her with the stench. :puke A thank you without Steve having to go to them would have gone a long way, but as I say it was done for her.

Apparently this is the second time that she has been poisoned and bear in mind she is a Cypriot dog.

Me thinks they want to get rid of her by the sounds of it, letting her roam & not caring what happens :x

Pete, have you ever been round the streets where I live, the dogs that are let out and most of them are pedigrees.

I don't think that is the case with them as she is now quite old. She is twice the size she was in the photo (getting fat) and now going grey, hence it would have been difficult for me to put her in the car (by the way is now nice and clean inside and out - smells like a disinfectant factory inside)

When we first moved here she was not allowed in their garden until I told them that she has arthritis and it was not fair that she had nowhere to shelter from (her kennel is in the road at the bottom of a hill and I imagine fills up with water each time it rains). the rain She used to come into our garden and try and shelter under the verandah, but what a mess she made with all her hair going everywhere, fleas jumping around etc. You can imagine. In any case they now leave their electronic gates open so she can go into the underground parking areas when it rains.

Must admit that the family did make a sort of fuss over her when they got back from work and school. They wouldn't even touch her at one time, until they saw her playing with us and she loves to give her paw and say hello.

They are learning slow but sure.

I've been around your neighbourhood Trish & I can't say I noticed any dogs but then again I was driving, so would have been watching the road instead

Its no excuse to let your pet roam free, especially when you know there is a chance they may get poisoned or run over :x Whats the point in getting a pet & pay all that money out on Vets bills if you're not going to look after it

I understand that Pete, but they are Cypriots and at least today she has been kept in the garden so they have listened to us.

I know it is difficult to understand but it is their culture and I at least am working slowly at changing their attitude.

If you drive down our street on a Saturday morning you get a couple of the local dogs going after the car and it is most frightening, especially with one of my neighbour's dogs as it always looks as though it is going under the car. I now have to close my eyes and just drive on hoping against hope that she doesn't get under it as she just wont stop. At least she is not out all the time but only at weekends - still makes your heart miss a beat.

Just one little warning to anyone is if you have lifted a dog or aided a dog that has been poisoned - change your clothes immediately if you have your own dogs. The reason I say this is I ended up having to phone the vet up yesterday as I thought Koo Koo had been poisoned, but it turns out that whatever Artemis had, had mildly affected her and she ended up with a really bad upset tummy.
