I am stuck between the wife and son. My boy who is 18 come off his motorbike last night. no fault of his own it was very frosty he slipped on some ice. He is ok just a bit sore that all. Ok his mum has said the bike got to go, as it to dangerous. Now he gone ranting and asking me to back him up. I told him i would have a word with the wife, but she not backing down, she has chained up the bike and got the keys to it. What should i do ?? do i put my foot down and demand the keys back. or should i back up my wife. He needs the bike for work, and he can not get bus to work as he don't Finnish until 1 am. I am not very good on things like this and i do not want to upset wife or son. What should i do Back son or Wife. I do understand where she coming from, but life is life and things do happen. I know she still see them as her babies, but she must let them grow up. She wants him to push bike to work but it is 5 miles there. What would you do |

Oh the dreaded situation, who to back Personally, I'd stay out of it & let them sort it out between themselves, that way you don't have to fall out with either of them |

Let it de-fuse .. Tell him to sort something else for a day or so until it cools down. mum is worried sick and ranting , but thats how they deal with it.. let her calm down ... then see how she is .. |

You shouldn't be in the middle of this really. It is between your son and his Mum. They have to sort it out as you will be in the dog house whoever you choose to support. He is legally an adult, and if it is his bike ..... I have every sympathy for all of you. Been there. Glad to be past that stage now. Verity. |

Hi Mark Has he passed his Bike test? Not just the basic scooter one. If not, maybe suggest to your son and wife that he does the test, or if he has passed his test an advanced test? He will be more confident and maybe the wife will be too..... If not, I guess he is 18...he has to live his own life... just ensure he never gets on the bike without full leathers and a good helmet... it's all you can do. Good luck. |

Hi Tequila Yes he passed and done the advance . I did say i would pay for him to have a weeks crash driving course, but he dose not want to get a car, he loves his bike to much. The thing is he paid for the bike and insurance and test himself, so i do think he has a right to ride the bike , and he is 18. I just told the wife to sort it out, and leave me out of it. GREAT ADVICE PEOPLE. She going into 1 at me saying i should back her. My poor ears, now where did i put them ear plugs . Just one more thing, when woman are mad why do they stomp around talking to themselfs If you could see and hear her |

The chocs and flowers may work as she will have had time to calm down a little by the time Aaron gets home. He might be wise to keep the bike out of site for tonight, though. And he needs to do lots and lots of creeping. No-one worries like a Mum worries. If kids can't understand it they just have to accept it. Verity. |
