People on summer holidays in Paphos this year will be able to enjoy a festival being held in the city with an aquatic theme. The Kataklysmos, or Festival of the Flood, will be held in Cyprus from June 14th to 16th. This event is a Greek Orthodox festival that marks the day of the Holy Spirit, also known as the feast of the Pentecost or Whitsun. While it has strong religious connections, the festival is also seen as a good opportunity for fun and celebration, with coastal areas staging concerts and games near the waterfront. Inland areas also get into the spirit of the occasion, with children and the young-at-heart engaging in water-fights and other playful pursuits. In Paphos, the Festival of the Flood is celebrated near the castle and the harbour, where visitors will be able to enjoy concerts, dance groups, water sport competitions and plenty more. |
