As I am sure you are aware we are trying a new forum style
though as you know at paphos people we want what you want,
therefore we we would like to ask your opinion or just vote ..
Which style of forum do you prefer this one or the other one.

The poll will run for 1 week then we will take action accordingly

What you also need to remember are that there are different styles on this new forum, and you can configure your own to personal preference, so you might like to try a few different ones before casting your vote!

If you can't find any you like from the current selection, there's loads of others out there too, so shout up with any preferences and we'll do our best to find one that suits! :D

I've changed mine to Subsilver as well, and I like it, but please can we have the "view posts since last visit" option back - I can't be doing with having to click on every subject on the main menu

Thank you Management :)

Hi Helen,

Sorry you're not having any fun at present but I'm sure once you get use to the new functionalility you'll see its a lot better :D

To change style, go into your User Control Panel, click Board Settings & change style in the drop down box to 'Subsilver' Click submit & hey presto, you should be able to see the new style in the board index :D :D

I think you should have waited a few days before setting up a poll. People need time to navigate the site and get a feel for it before making a decision.

I don't know how I feel about it yet. I think the other style is easy to get on with because there are so many sites that are set up like that, so it will take a little time to adjust to the functionality (hip buzz word or what? :guitar )

I think you will get some knee jerk reactions initially, Pete.

Found how to change to subsilver and done it. Has it made a difference to how it looks - marginally.

I need some convincing. What extra functualities are we talking about here. Does it make tea?
Does it clean toilets? If not then I still feel the same.

Besides which.. I now have to put my specs on to read the bloody text

I will just go away now and sulk.

Come on guys I need some serious help here. Do you also supply SATNAV to help me find my way around??

Sorry but I love it, the functionality is awesome & its 21st forum styling, the fact we're the first to transition over is great :D Like Neil I've had a week to get used to the test forum & I'm still no closer to being able to handle everything on here but that's why I didn't agree with putting the pup right away, as people will vote on first experiences & not later when they get a little more use to it

If members take their time, have a look around, try out everything, then come back & say I don't like it because....... then I'd understand but to vote against it without trying it is like buying a car before taking a test drive

I did not agree , I was against the change, but I have always said we would
do things democraticlly , so I allowed the change on the understanding that if the members dont like it ,then we go back to the more warm style that we had before.

As we have always said , its the peoples board , let them decide

Click on the "User Control Panel" at the top of the page, when you're in there, select the tab that says "Board Preferences"

Under there you'll see a list of styles so you can choose which one you like - the current default is Prosilver, but if you change this to Subsilver2 you'll go back to the same style the board was using before.

Its just a word .. its like mobile phones, you can get ones that sing, dance, email, tinter-net etc, wow ....functuality....
but all you really need is to make and recieve calls oh and send text messages.

same as here , as long as you can post and read messages oh and send PM`s thats all you need .. so functuality does not really help you..
apart from that its cold ..

Hi Guys

:congrats and well done on the migration.

Don't know how I feel about it yet - will have to play with it a bit to see what I think. I like the increased functionality, just wish we could have bigger avatars (pl?) I can have a big head at times but I think it's dinky on here - can you tell I've only just been brave and posted a pic?

Will check in again soon when I've had a play .....

Ooh - love the little jiggy above my logon name to increase the font size - thanks guys :guitar

In the announcemnts at the top of the Day 2 Dat life forum, we have a welcome to the New Forum, in there is a link to the FAQ's about the New Style Forum, it tells you want you can do & what you can't depending on what functionality I've given members :D

So if you're unsure about something, check out the FAQ's :D

I almost forgot to say, I've opened the Poll on this post to re-vote's, so that if in a few days time you feel you've changed your mind, then you'll be allowed to re-vote, something the person raising this Poll forgot to action :D

I did a paper on change management as a degree module - many moons ago. Reading the posts has made me think of the discussions about change.

Change for change sake doesn't make sense, but if there are benefits to the change then it should be piloted.

I think we should view the next week or so as a pilot, and then look at what members think. As far as posting, pm'ing and uploading images is concerned, it is no different. The writing is on the left instead of the right. And the emoticons are called smilies. Not too different on a day to day basis so far, IMHO.

Verity,

I take it you've not changed your style to Subsilver then :?

As that's very similar to the old style & the author is on the left, with the posts on the right :D

Just the FUNCTIONALITY is different

I forgot to mention, you can also increase your Avatar size upto 150px x 150px if you want too :D :D

I've only just spotted that bit myself - that's well snazzy! :D

For the uninitiated, you see the little letter "A" just above your login name - click it and you can scroll between different font sizes, so you can make all the text on the site git big as owt if you're a bit optically challenged!

Haven't checked the other styles, but I think it only works if you're using Prosilver.

Initially I changed to subsilver because I am so familiar with that layout on other forums! However, I've gone back to prosilver to give it a fair trial before voting. I used a forum in the UK which changed it's layout and at first I hated it but after a while completely forgot what the old one looked like. Definite NO on the green option, very insipid and blue's my favourite colour anyway.

By the way I spotted the deliberate mistake on the voting poll - "prefererd" - do I get a prize?

Oh yes. I was going to say, can't we have another category in the poll? Can we have a no preference category because some people may not care one way or the other.

I think that will be me then.
