| Post subject: | Gunman kills two in Paphos |
Two people were shot dead at point blank range in broad daylight in Holetria village near Paphos yesterday. According to early reports, a man entered a shop and shot a 72–year-old man and a 46-year-old woman with a rifle. The victims were named as Myrianthi Stylianou and Socratis Kyprianou. Police say the two victims died immediately. The gunman, Michalis Artemis, 45, was quickly arrested by local police. Local radio reports said the gunman suffers from psychological problems, he is now being questioned by CID officers. Relatives and friends of the victims cannot provide any motive for the shootings. Myrianthi Stylianou was the mother of three young children. Most households own a gun in Cyprus, but shootings are very rare. Famagusta Gazette |
