Perfectly put Graham. I used to do 30,000 miles a year visiting clients all over the UK. I've spent more than my fair share of time sitting stationery on the A14, A1, M11, M25 and M6. What a waste of one's life! Driving out here is such a relative pleasure, once one has learned to drive how Cypriots drive   ; so that you're in a position to anticipate what they're about to do, before they themselves actually think of doing it. And it's not just driving in the UK that's such a hassle; but finding parking when you get to your destination, with so many socialist councils hell-bent on making motorists' lives a misery...and extracting as much money as they can from what they believe to be non-PC milche cows. OK...rant over! Lloyd

We certainly don't. We only have two lanes to our motorway.

When I went back to the UK last October, my brother and nephew picked me up at Manchester Airport - as we were driving up the M6, my nephew said "Well, at least it's not too busy today" - I was just thinking how MANIC it was  Shows how I am used to the highway over here!

Yakflyer, I agree. My bahookie spends most of the day seatbound in the civic visiting clients. Scotland has become a nightmare, if its not the volumes of traffic fouling up the roads its the non essential roadworks that spring up at this time of year to spend the Councils remaining budget, meaning I can spend all day trying to find alternative routes.

Sidpat, its not predjudice, its the way it is. Some councils organise parking better than others and do so to encourage trade and business, others simply use parking as a cash cow to penalise and fill the coffers to make up for the shorfalls after funding ludicrous projects (one legged black lesbian muslim ecofriendly hippy single parents) etc. These councils simply dig a bigger hole for their taxpayers and provide fewer services for the mass public. Its a fact. I just wish I was a one legged black lesbian muslim ecofriendly hippy single parents, I would be made for life!!!

By the way this in no way reflects my own preferences, but is my interpretation of the situation.

However I also firmly believe that if we have a view or preference or principal we should be allowed to openly air such view without hinderence.

Tanny,

In todays world, to a point you're allowed to air your views but you shouldn't expect everyone to agree with what you are saying & understand that others may want to complain about the way you air your views openly

I'm one of the most open, opinionated people I know but even I know I have to be more PC about how I air my views, especially on a forum such as this, due to other members mis-reading what I'm trying to say & taking it the wrong way :o

Indeed Pete, the ability to present ones views and debate them in an open way must be better than the other solution often chased by many, namely war and conflict. We must all consider each others views.

Hi! Redgnome,

I try to avoid travelling over bank holidays, christmas, childrens holidays etc., like the plague. Unfortunately I have family spread all over the country and some in Ireland and because of the nature of their work we can only get together at these times. A pain for all of us but unfortunately unavoidable.

Much prefer it when they come to us

Jackie
