Although I was obviously not there in person, i have to say I have thoroughly enjoyed every single moment which I have watched, from the opening ceremony up to now. My congratulations and admiration to every single athlete, to the organisers, the volunteers, the government, the police, the armed forces and to every spectator (except perhaps the idiot who threw the bottle) It has been a superb showcase for the UK and I truly hope it reaps massive benefits for the whole country.

One minor crticism, and nothing whatsoever to do with the games - the number of commentators, presenters, et al who insist on pronouncing the word ATHLETE as athalete - these people are paid enormous sums of money to present these programmes - can they not at least learn the pronunciation of their native tongue?????????

Or the radio 1 presenters who kept calling it Team England.

I really enjoyed this great event immensly, yes it was way over budget but look at the massive regeneration of a part of East London which was formally waste land. The main stadium, aqua centre and velodrome will now be accessable to sports lovers for many years to come. Wembley stadium was full to bursting for the football games, Hyde Park & the Mall was host to the triathlons, Greenwich Park was a fantastic venue for the show jumping and who would have thought we would ever have beach volley ball in Horseguards parade !!

Team GB did each and everyone of us proud. Who would have thought we would finish 3rd in the medal table?

Thanks to our service men, women, the police and the multitude of games makers who absolutely made the olympics a tremendous success.

I loved every minute of it.

I did too. I very rarely watch sport on TV apart from Wimbledon, but I have loved it all.
Well done to all the athletes who took part in a memorable event. Roll on Rio.
